Front suspension knock

So I want to let everyone know the outcome of my issue. My local dealer literally replaced all of the components in the left front suspension and it still popped. FCA got involved and made the truck a lemon. Kudos to them for giving me a fair price.

I turned around and bought a new 2023. WHen I drive it over the same bump…it is night and day difference in the travel of the suspension. Clearly there was something allowing the shock to travel way more and likely causing something to bottom out.

I also wanted to give a plug to Castle Rock Dodge. They were sympathetic to my dilemma. They sold my a truck below MSRP and even delivered it to me for free. Thanks Scott Brunelle.
Wow thats actually crazy! Mine has the same issue. I cant believe they couldnt fix the problem and lemoned it for that. I really dont want to lose this truck for that issue with the way the market is now on these trucks. Did they ever mention if that issue would cause damage to the truck if not fixed?

Since they didn’t know what the problem was, it’s hard to say. My suspicion is that the electronic controller to the Suspension was malfunctioning, but they didn’t want to explore that route. Otherwise they had replaced everything else.

Just noticed mine doing this 2 times in the past few weeks. Only on driver's side from what I can tell. Crazy that no one in the thread has been able to figure it out yet!

Also check the front body mounts. They were changed in mid production 22’s.

Mine had the old ones. The new one’s supposedly correct the clunk. It’s the cab bouncing on the frame.

Mine was clearly coming from the front Suspension. I put a GoPro in the fender well right in front of it and you could see the shock overly compressing, and the suspension would bottom out.

Well dam mine has been doing this since day one on a small drain gutter in my neighborhood. I thought I remember this being a non-issue on some of the Gen2 raptors, but if they actually lemon law yours for that, it is saying something. Might have to bring mine in and see

Any follow up on that. I feel like mine clunks intermittently. Sometimes not at all and sometime on every speedbump.

Yup, I put the Eibach 2.5" springs (Front only) and the clunk is gone. Now blast through it with no problems.

Gotcha. Wonder if its just the springs then in most trucks making that weird clunk sometimes. since they were designed to support the heavy motor the makeup of them maybe just causes that noise.

reviving this. having the same issue now for 6 months.
I had this problem and the dealer told me its faulty electronic valves so the front shocks need replacement. To make matters worse, the shocks are on back order. My truck has been at the dealer for 6 weeks now. I’ve escalated to @RamCares. No resolution as of yet. I’m hoping the shock replacement takes care of the problem.

I cant imagine the shocks would cause that knock (or at least ours) but im no expert. We had our control arms replaced and our knock/clunk went away

My 23 was clunking for all the winter months on the left side. Now that it has warmed up some, the clunking on the left side is gone. Could the body mounts be shrinking/hardening too much under very cold weather causing the clunking?

Check your body mounts, some of the 22s had the old style.

I think it's unlikely, the body mounts were a mid 22 update so your 23 should have the new ones.

Just got my truck back yesterday. After thorough testing on Michigans impeccably maintained roads, I’m happy to report that the replacement of both front shocks has solved the front end knock…for now.
