Hello Guys,

So the TRX that my brother owns had broke down when driving on the highway. Basically what happened is that the einge knocked and piston cylinders now have marks, igniters have burnt up and other issues in engine. The problem is as always that there is no official RAM dealership and service centre in Kazakhstan, and now due the political situation not even in Russia.

Therefore wanted to ask maybe someone had a similar issue where they had an engine malfunction and what is the procedure of warranty check? Is it even possible?
We are also looking at the option of purchasing a replacement engine. In that case where can we get one?

Thanks a lot. Have a good one.

Will also provide pictures later for a better understanding of what happened.

Jesus sorry to hear about your terrible luck. Hopefully someone else can chime in here.

Rather than replace the entire engine, couldn’t a reliable specialist just rebuilt the motor and replace the damaged bits? Surely that would be less expensive than a new crate engine. Plus, while you are in there, you could upgrade the internals for improved power capacity and durability.

Then again, I guess it also depends on the availability of such expertise and parts.

Sorry to hear about the back luck! Good luck with a solution.

That really sucks!
For warranty service, you will have to send the truck to a RAM dealership. Not something they will do over the phone.
How did you get the truck? Private sale?

it was an import , look at OP's location. Ram wont warranty that. Most likely had extra work done to it anyway.

I saw it was Kazakhstan, but didn't know how he came across a TRX there. Grey market import?
Like you say, any mods and he is SOL.!

his english is very good. Either an expat or one of the well politically connected. He has the money not the means to take it in to fix, Crate engine or new TRX all together. Even with busted engine a TRX would sell for a lot there

How about upping the 'wow!' factor and see if you can get a 900/1200hp engine from Hennessy!

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the replies.

Sorry for the late response, had to do some running around with the truck. The engine was taken apart at the local service for vehicles in general, but the guys are good at their job. Now we have the pictures of the damage. Have a look. On the photos you can the 6th piston.

Maybe someone knows where I can get a repair kit for the engine? Tho it must be 0.5 - 1 mm bigger the than the standard kit if there's such option. And another question, is it possible get forged piston and side rod?

Have a good one.

Ouch… Destination for sure, after it melted the crankcase pressure skyrocketed and pushed the rear main out from the looks of it. If you’re going through the process of rebuilding the engine I would also send off the injectors and have them flow tested. The injector might have gotten contaminants in it causing it to stick and lean out that cylinder.

I’m not super familiar with this engine platform but In the diesel world we would just sleeve the cylinder and keep it the stock bore. I’m not sure if that’s doable, but if it is you can pick up a piston and rod like P/N 53010927AD for a decent price.

Doubt there would be any warranty overage. Looks like a fuel quality issue resulting in severe detonation based on the condition of the spark plugs. The company I retired from sold equipment to Kazakhstan. They had a lot of issues with burnt valves and such not seen elsewhere. Turned out it was because of poor quality fuel.
