My dealer emailed me saying my TRX order was canceled because Spitfire Orange was discontinued with no advanced notice from the factory. They're asking me to resubmit with a different color. I was never given a VON for the original order.

This doesn't add up to me. Spitfire Orange is still on Ram's website, still in the order guide, and the production tracker here shows 200+ SO units built with October build dates still coming through.

Has anyone heard anything about this color being dropped? Or has anyone else had a dealer pull something like this? Any advice on how to handle it would be appreciated.

The color was closed for new orders - since you never got a VON, then perhaps your dealer didn't yet have an allocation (and once they got one, they tried to put in the order after the color was closed).

Edit: See the post below (from 10/2) regarding Spitfire Orange being closed for new orders.

Oh, and another note. Don't rely on the Ram website for what is currently available - it's always behind on information (sometimes by several months). At any given time, there may be ordering restrictions due to parts shortages, and if they add or close certain options the dealer will be able to see it - or not. But the Ram website is just general information, and is NOT the gospel.

Thanks. That's a bummer.

Will Spitfire Orange likely reopen for orders at some point? Or once a color is closed, is it usually done for the model year? Trying to decide whether it's worth waiting or if I should just pick a different color and move on.

I would put the chances at 99.9% that it's done for good. I can't say I've ever heard of a color being reopened in the same model year. They usually wait 2-3 years before reintroducing it.
Anyways, I would be willing to bet that it's closed now so they can make room for the Goldilocks paint (if they ever do it).
