Changes to GO RHINO SPORT BAR 2.0 WITH POWER ACTUATED RETRACTABLE LIGHT MOUNT

Since these are 90mm/s, they are only rated to 100NM and therefore struggle to hold the lights in position during normal highway driving. So, they wobble as the actuator comes off the limit switch. Fitting another one to the opposite end seems to overcome this.
My issue was the actuator not being able to fully extend and therefor it wouldn’t stop in the open position.

New actuator
So I just got my second TRX..finally...waited 10 months!! I had the ram bar on the 21 but it was a clearance nightmare and I dont plan to do lift kits.. I saw this bar and can use it with my retracting cover so im very interested in it..can you send me some pics of the side view from several feet back as they say the rail mount portion is 33 " long...!! that is huge... THe stock photos that GoRhino posts suck for comparison and maybe they know its long so they hide it in the angles...IDK... but Id also be interested in a higher performing actuator which is a great idea and the relay install as well cause i think the way you did it seems to make the most sense... Id also like to know what light bar you bought and mayne show me some pics at the roof horizon so I can see how high the light sits over the roof... I dont want it sticking too far over... anyhow, how was the install...some say its cheap and flimsy and some say it doenst fit the TRX like it was meant for the TRX...what is your opinion? I appreciate whatever you can advise me on...thanks, Tom

Pics coming in a few minutes. Both @Corso923 and I found the actuator referenced didn’t work. I am not sure if the specs changed since @Mikey DownUnder did his. The actuator referenced is both a few MM longer and the mounting holes smaller than the one from GoRhino. The result is an actuator that can not fully extend, making one switch on/off impossible. I’m still trying to find a solution to this issue.

As far as wiring and relays… send me a DM, I’m happy to walk you through it.

My GoRhino experience was a nightmare, the installer is a nightmare and my truck got trashed from them installing a used(?) damaged piece of crap. Total hacks. In the course of that nightmare i learned that the metal used for these sport racks is really shitty. Rust central if the coating is damaged at all. I thought i was being well advised by New England Offroad Outfitters/ Linex of Portland and they TRASHED my truck before i had even taken possession of it, with barely 100 miles on it. So much more to the story, believe me but the kicker is that they issued me a refund for my original purchase price, that did not account for damages, devaluation or repairs, and then without telling me stopped payment on the check. Total scumbag assholes and im just skimming the surface of what happened because it got further damaged during the repairs.
Good luck. The GR sport racks Look wrong on the truck anyhow in my opinion but to each their own.
Check out my pictures.

I disagree with @RAMona

Her situation was shitty… but the rust factor on any steel part is real. If you drill out a hole and don’t coat it, it will rust. I’m a year in, and while I do have some minor rust where I did a poor job of painting, but overall I am very happy. Like it so much better than the RamBar.

Im glad you are happy with your set up. I was told that unless you coat these things they will chip and end up rusting. Im not talking about drill holes rusting, they do come already drilled and the rep at Go Rhino was flabbergasted that those ####ers drilled their own mounting holes.
They also did so obviously with the rack on the bed rails and left the shavings in the bed of the truck which in no time flat rusted. What i ended up learning is that the metal is “fine steel” which is really a low grade, high carbon metal… extremely rustable. <—-made up word?
Anyhow, i was told to get it Line-X ed by the ceramic guy but i chose to get it the f off my truck… and thats when things got beyond worse.
I think a lot of the rust issue would depend on where you live, where you drive and what the truck and the rack encounter in the way of abuse.
Side note, ive also heard that the wiring is a real pain to run inside the tube… which is why they chose to zip tie it to the outside of the bar. You honestly cant make this shit up.
I am not a metallurgist or an iron worker but i could barely believe how fast those shavings rusted. Several people said, wow your truck is already rusting. It wasnt the truck! In fact the holes the drilled into the truck during the assault never did rust! They were seeing the rust from the sport bar. I just think GR could do better.
Lying Ahole actually told me the entire rack was stainless steel. Of course it makes perfect sense to me now that there was no way it could be at that price point.

(I believe GR told me that LineX ing/ painting one of those racks invalidates their warranty?)

Nice truck by the way!! 👍😉

Yeah you had a really shitty experience and a lot of idiots telling you crazy things…

The Sportbar is made of mild steel, so exposed metal will rust… it is by no means stainless steel.

They cut the crap out of your truck, drilled holes everywhere… was almost like they were trying to destroy it… considering your experience, I’m not surprised how much you soured on it all.

GoRhino does warrant it against rust, but drilling or cutting it in anyway will void that warranty.

Thank you @JBTRXNJ😊
Mild steel sounds right. Anyhow there is a dark side to the whole situation you cant imagine how ugly things got. I feel so bad for that truck, it didnt deserve any of what was done to it.
I think they did it on purpose.

Hi,

I thought I would post this to help those with this type of bar.

I changed out the stock linear actuator with a higher speed one from eBay. The stock one has a speed of 15mm per second. So you can have a birthday while waiting for it to lift the lights into position. I replaced it with a unit that has a speed of 90mm per second. I will post videos of both.

If anyone wants to know how to wire it so that it comes on and lifts with one of the Aux switches and also comes on and lifts when you hit the high beams, let me know. All you need is a double pole, double throw relay, so that it retracts when the light is switched off.
Good day... I would very much appreciate any information you can share on how to get the AUX switch to power the actuator up and down. Thanks!

Hello,
Could you please send a link of the new actuator
