NEW AMP Research PowerStep Smart Series for 2021+ Ram TRX - 86240-01A

Plenty of these still instock.

Still have a few of these instock!

Just ordered another set. First set went on the wife's truck. These work great with the smart app. Get out, hit the app, leave them deployed to prevent door dings!

Smart call! Just shipped out for you today!

I have these, and love the app support…. Wish I would have got them from you guys, ordered them about 2 months before my truck arrived…and Amp told me they might be back ordered for 3-4 months… So I snapped up the one set I could find in stock somewhat locally.

That’s definitely a concern right now! We only have the Smart Series instock, can’t seem to keep stock on the other 3 models that AMP offers.

I saw a video on YT of someone needing to modify their frame to fit the two motors on the AMP extreme boards. For anyone who has these smart series with only one motor, does this same issue exist? I’m interested in these steps but not wanting to have to make any modifications to the frame.

I just put a set on this past weekend and I only have the single motor units. I which I had known about the dual motor set up. But the work great and don't notice and BS. the fit 100% fine. On the passenger side you will have to drill a hold in a frame gusset to be able to install the third Allen bolt that holds the moto in place but its no big deal.

Smart series installed…. No drilling

Just finished installing 1st set of 2 Amp Smart Series steps. A few notes and ONE issue. The instructions show a harness relocation bracket that states "Except TRX" when in fact it is for the TRX ONLY. The instructions also show removal of the dash side panel to locate the "blue" harness connector panel that the trigger wire plugs into....DO NOT remove the side panel. You only need to remove the ebrake override cover/door and TWO screws securing the ebrake panel for easy access to the connector block. The one issue I had was once everything was routed, connected, and powered up the steps worked in reverse order! Door closed....steps down. Door open....steps up. Both sides! Polarity on BOTH motors was opposite that from the harness so BOTH harnesses needed to be un-pinned and wires swapped. Easy enough, just a little aggravating to do under the truck with a flashlight at 11PM:mad:

It's all good now and the phone app is pretty cool.

I just installed mine.
2 things: my polarity was also reversed. Still need to fix that. Other issue is the password for the app to connect. It says it’s the controller ID but I’ve tried every number I can see and it doesn’t work. Which one is it?

It should show you the code in the app. You then have the option to create your own. I just skip past it. I initially named the truck and that was it. Now the below pop up appears prompting for a password creation when I open the app and I just hit cancel.

Got it figured out. The name on the Bluetooth was the password. It then had me name and reset it.

Also just removed the pins from the connector and swapped their side. Took literally 1 min per side and it’s now perfect.

Glad to hear this! I will be letting AMP know about this issue though, it's more common than they thought originally.

Getting ready to install our second set this week. I may test BEFORE installation. Much easier to re-pin before harness is installed.

It's just one of the weatherproof plugs like foglights use. I wouldn't bother with it before installing, because once it was installed, I just unplugged, used a safety pin to pop the pins loose, swapped them and plugged back in. Literally under a minute on each side if it's wrong and nothing at all if its correct. Not worth the time it would take to test. Maybe just test before zip-tying all your slack out of the wires.

Oh, and make sure you have quality drill bits before starting. The unexpected hardest part for me was drilling through the pinch welds for the light wiring. Broke several drill bits and said a few choice words.

Yep. Been there done that. This will be my 5th set of AMPs that I have installed. Second on TRX. Good metal in those pinch welded panels!
