21 trx engine replacement

Hey everyone! I have a 21 ram trx with 105000km on it just over my 100 thousand km warranty and it needs a new motor. I was told I could do a cam and lifter replacement but that wouldn’t guarantee a fix so a new engine was quoted. I was just wondering what my options were before spending 25k cad on a long block with install.

You can get an entire engine with low km's thats pretty much drop in ready for less than that. Check on Kijiji there's a few on there with warranty from a reputable shop in Alberta.

I would hope since it is so close to the warranty @RamCares would be able to work out a deal of you only paying a % of the fix.

Yea that was the dealer quote with install.

Yea I seen that one which is only 19g for the complete engine. The dealership quoted 18g for a long block with 160000km warranty.

What cause the motor to go bad?

I blew the cam and lifter and there’s metal shavings in the oil so that’s why they recommended a new motor

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Were there any signs that the motor was going out? I only ask because I have a 21' and it's still under warranty.

There was no signs that I could tell, it happened after i gave her the juice when i was passing someone. Other then that everything was working great

Yeah I'd rather buy a whole engine myself but I would also do the swap myself too. If you're not mechanically inclined and don't have access to a lift then I can see why you would go the dealership route.
