Hey all. I have been lurking for a while with nothing to say because really nothing has been happening that needed my input. Well today that changed. In my DCmail (Stellantis Email) I got the update that the TRX 21-24 and 21-23 Durango hellcat tune kit is available. Just like the kits for the Challengers and Chargers not all is obvious so Here is the run down.

This is the information for the TRX
Part Number 77073033AA $2195.00
will get you:
Pulley (Hellephant) #920674
180 thermostat #82215542
Tuner #FCA9100
Air filters, these are K&N oil-air filters. NOT DRY! Part number #33-5115
Calibration Unlock Keychain #DC-KC001
Access to online Instruction/installation sheet.

What you do not get but is required AND is not included in the price. Also prices on these individual items will vary by region:
68271246AA intake gaskets. It says optional but you are a fool if you reuse these.
68267540AA Supercharger Lid Gasket Kit
68271245AA Throttle body Intake Seal
68271253AA QTY 4 Throttle Body Screws
68271249AB T-MAP Screw

This of course also does not include labor.
All of this will give you an increase of 40HP.........

Also I used quotes because when I checked the number I am not seeing inventory anywhere. So order and wait.

Some additional information.
Unlike the Challengers and Chargers there is only one kit needed.
Also it is a little interesting or fun that the tune kit puts your old TRX just 21hp over the new Raptor R.

Thanks for the heads up !
40HP, would someone even feel an additional 40HP on a TRX?
I am not sure. I can imagine you could feel it a little at the launch just because your supercharger is loading faster. I do think that the supercharger whine will become more prominent.

Pretty cool option for us that are still stock. Here’s hoping more to come for gen1s. Curious how they handle trucks with aftermarket intakes. Worst case scenario I can pop the stock intake back on > get the kit installed > switch back :ROFLMAO:

Doesn’t seem worth it, 2K before any labor for a 40HP increase????

Don’t people see nearly that with a slip on lower pulley?

For keeping your warranty, it is “a” option to be ever so slightly faster but may not be the best option.

If its $2K for the parts and $2K for the labor = 40HP, I would throw a few more $$$$ at it and have SRT Autoworks put their exotic killer package on it.

Is it wheel or bhp? 40whp is a decent bump but not anything greater than a slip-on Predator/incognito pulley. If it's bhp then that's kind of a joke IMO. Either way, seems like a F load of parts & labor for less gains then a slip-on + S&B intake...

Based on the hellephant pulley (3.17") alone i'd imagine it should yield results similar to an incognito or predator pulley.

Also looks like the addition of a DC stage kit invalidates any mopar care extended warranty/service contract. Lots of talk on the hellcat forums about this.

Which then begs the question of why the hell would anyone buy this if it voids any extended warranty since a lot of these trucks are coming up on the end of their factory warranties.

People saying slip on pulleys yield these results and that’s not accurate… I had an incognito and my truck was slower than a stock truck and lost several times to the same truck. Spoke to satera, my truck was going into COT from running too lean with the increased boost, running in the 9s AFRs and was overall an awful experience.

$2k for 40hp isn’t far off from other tuning packages I’ve seen when you factor they’re not much more than 40hp for $3-4k in parts.

Pretty much everyone else has seen decent gains from a slip on lower, for some reason your truck had issues with it. The reality is that’s not the majority of users.

Also saying 40HP is almost the same as other tuning packages is just not true at all.

For instance the Dt877 package is 3K, can normally catch a sale or discount code to get it closer to 2700-2900

So for an additional 7-900 I get a boat load more power, injectors etc…

It’s an option for someone afraid of aftermarket tuning and wants everything from the manufacturer.
It is not in the same league in power packs as the big tuning companies though.

Did you run that same truck before installing the pulley? If not, you have no baseline for comparison. IMO, a 40HP increase over your competitor will still come down to driver vs driver. If you were talking 100-200-300, then you will see the truck make up for a slow response time, etc.

The stock truck goes into cat overtemp protection pretty easy in hot climates to begin with…I saw that here in AZ back when I first had the truck and it was stock. You’re in Florida…so same boat.

This is one reason why performance of the TRX is so dependent on environment and user setup (ie. What are all temps before trying to extract performance out of it). If you have been driving around the vehicle for awhile on a 90 deg day and everything is heat soaked then you are screwed. The hellcat motor isn’t thermally efficient and was never designed for the mass of a truck to move around which just means it heat soaks that much faster. Actually saw a pretty good comparison video of a hellcat on the dyno not too long ago where all they did was change the coolant temp at the start of the dyno run. 30 deg change in coolant temp equated to 45hp difference.

That said, a proper pulley, injectors and pump gas tune with a tstat is 100-120hp gain for roughly the same cost. Hell, the S&B intake alone will net you more than half of that claimed 40hp for a fraction of the cost (verified via mass flow into the intake). So this tuner package is definitely a waste of $.

Said isn’t far off which it’s not but we also don’t know if that 40ho is wheel or crank which in fairness would be a big swing in direction. And several on the FB page had similar issues as I did. This is not to say my results are the rule but based on my experience I can’t recommend slip on pulleys without tuning, I see no value in it.

Yup sure did cause I removed the pulley was left with the same set up as him, 37s, S&B and stock otherwise. Results were split on runs which would 100% be driver error on both of our parts.

I was in Florida at the time but so was he so COT would be effecting both of us. His AFRs weren’t in the 9s during these runs. We tried to be as consistent between the trucks as possible. We both actually were leaving the range which was out in middle of nowhere so our trucks were similar temps in the same conditions. The only difference was the pulley itself. Satera said they have seen variances between trucks with slip on pulleys where some will run in COT more frequently than others. To me, this tells me the results aren’t consistent enough and I’d rather just run a proper pulley and tune combo vs a slip on pulley.
