2027 TRX - Where Should I PPF??

Just took delivery of my 2027 TRX in Diamond Black. This is my first TRX, so I’m looking for some recommendations on the best parts of the truck to get PPF, if any at all. Where are the most rock-chip-prone areas you all have experienced?

I've gone back and forth on this and realized PPF isn't worth doing unless you wrap the whole truck. The most vulnerable areas; the front filler panels, hood, rockers, and rear fenders, already cover most of the vehicle. (don't think you can wrap the textured black parts)

"Half-measures" don't work here. A partial panel wrap is a bad idea because dirt and grime build up along the cut line, making it peel. And if you commit to doing all the vulnerable full panels, you’ve already covered the hood, doors, rear fenders, and cab. At that point, the front fenders are the only things left exposed, so you might as well just finish the entire truck.

You will also need consideration If you have decals. PPF over the decals will make them glossy instead of the matte look. Will also leave a "halo" around the decal as the raised surface will create a small air pocket. I would recommend removal and decals on top of the PPF.

it’s worth it if you have the money to spend. Around 8K
I’m going with Autobahn Incognito PPF in full gloss. To me it was a no-brainer because the environment
Where I live is hot, humid, and salty. I am by the ocean. My paint wouldn’t last 3 years lol

Front bumper, 4 inches of hood. Rocker about 4 inches and a bit right before rear tires. Should cost a grand and will certainly help. Rockers not needed depending on boards you get.

Here’s the deal with ppf- it’s very expensive to the point where even damaging the ppf (the whole point of it) will be expensive to replace unless you want to drive with torn film lol.

Also, it does nothing for resale value.

Third- it’s not permanent. It will peel and lift eventually. It will also strip clear coat if on too long.

I did a stealth ppf on my 2021
X6m and 3 years later it was starting to peel in areas. Had to replace the hood which cost almost $1000 since it was full of rock chips that don’t heal.

Just take the rock chips on your clear coat and paint. They never affect resale unless very bad. Ppf don’t stop dents either.

No one will care about rock chips on a used truck and it’s just worth the 10k install job.

A lot of that can be 100% true.

The TRX can sandblast that area right before the rear tires, however. Of course it depends on offset and board type.
