I have been a Gen 1 Raptor driver for years but when the TRX came out in 2021 they really caught my eye. My Raptor has 118,000 on it and has always been maintained to a very high standard. A few TRX models came up for sale at a local dealer here in Colorado where I live currently so I decided to take a test drive in a 2024. Has a level 1 build in it and although it doesn't have all the options my Raptor has, it was the coolest vehicle I have ever driven. I am a veteran and helicopter mechanic for a firefighting company. I travel in the Raptor every month for work and the gas mileage appears to be a little less but, looks like it will be a good vehicle to make the trip in. Not sure if I will pull the trigger on this 2024 or wait to see what 2026 brings but found this website and wanted as much info as I could before making a purchase this large.

pleasure to be here.

If you are on the fence, I would just wait to see what the 26 is.

If it’s released and you would rather a “gen 1 “ trx then snatch one up, if not order a new one from one of the forum dealers for a big discount.

Win win situation for you right now.

Yeah I probably will see what the 2026 situation looks like. Im still sticker shock over; insurance, ext warranty and initial cost. Kind of tough to swallow on a helicpoter mechanics salary but I do love that truck!.

Thanks Louk!

Funny enough the 6 month premium difference between our F250 and TRX is pretty negligible. We use usaa, currently in co as well.

Instead of a 24, look at a low mileage well taken care of 21/22. Prices are far more reasonable. New 24 110K ish, used 22 75-85ish. Set aside the saved 30+K on the off chance you have a small issue.

Also if it’s that dealer talking about extended warranty cost, plenty of forum dealers selling the warranty for approx 50$ over cost.

We are coming up on 4 years with ours and love it. Granted the connect bugs are annoying, and a random issue here and there, only truck we would entertain is a Raptor R, not sure I can justify 20-30K swing for more or less a name change

After the 2014, my current everyday driver, I just did not like what they did with the Raptor. Body style or especially engine. The price on those, I just cant understand 😲

We did look at a 21 at the dealer for 77K that was in tremendous shape but you just never know how its been kept up. That and the color, grey, was kind of unusual. I reckon Ill keep mulling it over for a spell. I do love the truck that's for sure! Big V8s are what I like to keep in the garage. They wife is in a 2025 Rebel and it is a good truck so far but I'm just not a 6 cylinder kind of person.

thanks man

If the 2024 is available and a reasonable deal go for it. The 2026, if it ever come out, will probably be the same or close to same truck for more money and then you will have to play games with dealers marking shit up..

Be sure to check it out really well for buying it... RAM support really sucks. Plenty of horror stories of guys having their trunk in the shop for months waiting on parts, etc. Also, they don't seem to care about fixing stuff they mess up. Many of us have had to live with the latest bad software updates for 6+ months with a promise it will be fix soon. It is an awesome truck, just RAM "after sales" support is pretty poor, IMO.

Yeah the 24, unfortunately, was not reasonable. They are still trying to get close to the original sticker price and as much as I love the truck, it is a depreciating investment. I don't think their price of 90K is reasonable. Ill have to look at the 21 and see if it appears worth what they are asking for it.

I would like to spend about a day with it so I can scrub it pretty hard to see if its going to be mechanically sound or not. Plus, i need to see about what one of those Granger MaxCare warranty's would cost for it. Those will be big deciding factors but we shall see.

A 2024 should still be under factory warranty, unless it has over 36k miles. If so, I'd consider Carshield before I'd buy from Granger "again".

Ill check them out, Thank you

Thank you, it was my pleasure!
Yeah me too! I'm surprised things are still leaving the lot with current prices. hoping they will be a little more affordable 🤞
