I've been loving my 2022 TRX since I picked it up in October 2022. Four years and about 45,000 miles later, I can confidently say it's my favorite daily driver I've ever owned. I've enjoyed it so much that I'm ready to upgrade to a 2027!
I'm planning to place my order sometime before the end of the year, but before I do, I'd love to get some opinions from everyone on a few factory options I'm debating.
1. Regular Mirrors vs. Tow Mirrors
My current TRX has the standard mirrors, and I've had absolutely no issues with them over the past four years. I do occasionally tow a smaller trailer hauling my golf cart, ATV, side-by-side, mower, etc., but nothing particularly large or heavy.
For those who have experience with both, are the tow mirrors worth getting? Any downsides to having them for everyday driving? I'm leaning toward sticking with the standard mirrors since they've worked perfectly fine for me.
2. Rock Rails vs. Off-Road Running Boards
My current TRX has the factory off-road running boards, and I've been loving them. They look great and are very practical. I have three small children and a petite wife who all use the running boards every single time they get in and out of the truck, so that's definitely something I need to consider.
I'm curious about the rock rails on the new truck, but from the pictures, they look noticeably smaller and less practical as a step. For those who have experience with both, how do they compare when it comes to actually getting in and out? Would I regret switching to the rock rails?
My truck spends the majority of its time on pavement, although I do travel gravel roads from time to time and occasionally take it down some trails when we go camping. Nothing I'd consider serious off-roading, though, so I'm more concerned with appearance and everyday practicality than needing the extra protection of rock rails.
3. Towing Technology Group vs. Trailer Tow Group
Can someone explain the actual differences between these two packages? Is there any benefit to ordering both, or is there a lot of overlap between them? Given that I only tow smaller trailers occasionally, I'm wondering which package makes the most sense.
I know I could ask the dealer, but I deal directly with the owner of my local dealership rather than a salesperson. I basically just need to text him my build, he'll get the order placed for me under MSRP, and that's that. I'd rather hear some real-world opinions from fellow owners before finalizing everything.
I'm in no huge rush, but I'd like to get my options figured out so I'm ready to place the order.
Appreciate any input, especially from anyone who has owned multiple TRXs or has experience with these different options. Thanks!
