How does that bad boy sound In the truck, I bet that thing slams pretty good?
It does. Not necessarily like super loud but I do have it turned down a bit otherwise it would overpower the rest of the system. I did it cause it just hits all the notes and is just on another level. Having a sub that like makes no noise is something I can’t explain. Like it hits but doesn’t make any sounds unlike other subs

Got everything installed. Just having one issue, I used all the pac harnesses and the anc bypass but I hear static like a buzzing that pitches high and low. Can’t figure out from where. Anyone experienced this? I hear it when the volume is off and as soon as my car powers on. Kind of annoying if I try and listen to low volume I hear it.

Did you use RCA’s or the fiber optic output

Somewhat common getting a ground loop or induced noise noise over the RCAs. Could be grounding locations, unshielded RCAs, or where they are run. The PAC module with a fiberoptic cable to a DSP would be the best route and allow for greater tuning options.

Pretty much this. Rcas can cause issues and gotta make sure you buy good quality ones and route them by themselves and not next to other wires. Fiber optic would be better just gotta be careful not to pinch itself and once it works you will get absolutely zero noise with fiber

Well my amp doesn’t have a fiber optic input. I was told I didn’t need a dsp because it’s what the pac module did, but apparently I do. Which do you recommend?

Are you going to replace the rest of the speakers?

PAC module only takes stock signal and converts it to RCA or fiber. Way different than a DSP

I already did replace them with 6.5” speakers.
Then you would definitely benefit from a DSP. Handful of good ones out there. Helix, Audison, and Zapco to name a couple. Currently using a Helix and they are really good but I’m switching to a MiniDSP to use Dirac on the TRX.

Here is the wiring schematic to use a PAC AP4-CH41 in a 22’ TRX. You have to hard wire the PAC in since they changed the plugs in the head unit for 22s. I have done this and is works perfectly. Basically works exactly like it does in the 21s just a little bit of soldering. I wanted to run a toslink which is why I went this direction.

We refer to that as the “resonance” of a subwoofer and some are very resonant (audibly loud) and others can be purely haptic in nature, just giving you the physical sensation of low frequencies. Typically we are looking for something with both characteristics but I’m like you in that I like the physical sensation equally, if not more, than the resonance of the sub. Maybe that explains why I put 1,000 watts on each Focal driver but it does the job better than any 10s I’ve heard. Glad yours is what you’d hoped for.

Ya I’ve just always wanted to try a W7 lol I’ve had the 13TW5’s and I do prefer the 8w7. Not as loud but I think it sounds better and hits lower notes. You have Focals in your TRX?

I have three of the 10's with 1000 watts each so they hit notes that I didn't know a 10 could hit. Thrilled with them.

Can anyone get the wiring diagram for the amplifier on the 2022 HK system? I’m planning an install and would prefer to mount the PAC at the amplifier.

Edit: Looks like they are the same on a 2022.

@BeeFlan was your system HK or non-amplified?

Well after reading this entire thread Im kind of hoping that the HK system as is will play Jazz at a reasonable level and I dont have to touch a thing...LOL otherwise sub boxes and focals here I come

Might as well go ahead and start your order.

The HK is a good system for stock equipment. It’s light years ahead of the L1 system. I’ve had both. I put an amp on the L1 Alpine but it didn’t improve things, and frankly, the ANC removal made things worse in terms of cabin noise. Two weeks of listening to the HK system is a big leap but can be improved. I’m not willing to disrupt the ANC. The noise mitigation of the road, exhaust, etc. is much improved.

Yeah ive had the anc in other cars, it does really work well for sure to keep a lot of noise at a lower level, hopefully I can improve the system a bit and still keep it in there. IMHO if your going to remove the anc might as well rip the entire thing out and do whatever you want except for the head unit
