Hope everyone is staying warm since most of the country is feeling the chills. I didn't find anything on the forum that compares the exhaust systems available out there. I haven't gotten my truck yet so doing some research to make the wait easier.

Looking for some feedback from members who have one of these exhausts installed.
  1. How is it compared to the stock?
  2. Cabin noise from 1-10?
  3. How aggressive from 1-10?
  4. Any drone?
  5. Pricing?
Any feedback would be appreciated!

I believe MBRP retains the pipes to the front of the OEM X pipe which is welded to the X pipe (pics of that OEM section below) so its from the rear of the X-pipe back. The AWE replaces the whole OEM system to the rear of the CATS.

Besides AWE’s reputation & quality (awesome welds, CNC mandrel-bent, U.S.-sourced .065”-wall T304L stainless steel) which is a huge step up from stock, I was really impressed with the craftsmanship, the biggest reason I went with AWE was the H-pipe, love the way Hellcats sound when they’re switched out for an after-market H-pipe, it‘s deeper & more of that old school muscle car sound/tone vs the X-pipe (always slightly higher pitched).. You can find some Vids online comparing the sound difference. Also a + imo it replaces the flattened OEM, stamped X-pipe. The only other system I know of that is similar in terms of H-pipe design is the GTHaus (AR front section). Initially I was looking at 5 different Cat-back systems for the TRX plus replacing the stock resonators.

The AWE is just a fraction louder than stock in the cabin, not that noticeable especially just cruising, no problem with conversations or music, it is louder & deeper on the exterior but not completely obnoxious. They managed to make it much more aggressive outside without being annoying inside. No drone, their drone canceling 180 technology works. It sounds sick, IMO better than just cutting out the 2 OEM resonators (some say mufflers) & adding louder resonators, which just makes the truck louder, the H pipe you hear a separation of the exhaust banks, again slightly more old school & deeper.

Fitment was perfect, bought mine from @Johnny@JustBoltOns & had it installed in July at AWE. Everyone I dealt with was great. Couldn‘t be happier with it.

AWE is my favorite exhaust on just about everything I’ve heard. I only went with GTHAUS on my T/H bc AWE didn’t have their system out yet. AWE and MBRP do have a different sound/tone than any of the other exhausts I’ve heard on the 6.2l.

I'm still looking for differences between AWE and Borla

Note that the stock exhaust is 3” stainless front to back. Removing the resonators achieves what you’d be paying for with an aftermarket system. I cut off my resonators. It sounds glorious without drone and was only $250. Something to think about…

I would add the GTHAUS to the list if you were interested in premium sound combined with-cutout so you don’t wake your entire neighborhood up in the morning.

Tons of people went down this path. under $200 in parts. The factory exhaust is 3 inches as are all the aftermarket ones. The only pro/con is the debate of x-pipe vs h-pipe but for the price savings....I will have this exhaust mod, with a full intake, and shorty headers for the price some put into an exhaust.

The factory exhaust on the TRX is surprisingly unrestrictive out of the gates.

I agree ☝️. I replaced the mufflers on my Hellcat with FLOWMASTER Outlaws. $200 and done!

Super appreciate the great and detailed review of the AWE cat back system. I actually ordered it last week it’s sitting in the back of my truck waiting to be installed on Friday and I was a little worried that it was going to be too loud but based upon everything you’re saying they have taken care of the drone problem big time and an outside is just a little bit louder for a little bit more head turning but not super obnoxious, I can’t wait!

I don’t know, putting magna flow mufflers (or similar ) on it without changing the cat back just seems like putting the cubic zirconia on a beautiful woman

So it ultimately comes down to sound. If the factory exhaust is proven less restrictive and great out of the gate, the only reason to replace it is for sound and not so much performance

Haha. The alternative is putting cubic zirconia that's maybe 15% better but costs 1100% more. I'll be the first to admit I am cheap and like to get the most for my $$ as opposed to spending the most $$.

Let us know your thoughts. I just received mine yesterday but can’t find a shop to install it before end of June. I’m same as you about not wanting it too loud but looking for better sound

I fully agree with you. The stock TRX exhaust is full 3” mandrel bent tubing. Great stuff. Sounds great and no drone. If I change anything it will be adding a set of headers but I doubt that happens

Received and installed AWE about a month ago and couldn’t be happier with it. Only thing that has suffered are the MPGs because you’ll want to hit that pedal more often just to hear it!
Perfect cold start and the revs just sound so mean. Perfection all around!

Yep intake and headers will out performance and out sound any engineered exhaust...When you can do an intake, shorty headers, and resonator swap for the price of some exhausts....Hard to justify 2k for just an exhaust knowing what the factory exhaust is. Nothing wrong with any route and whatever makes people happy. Thankfully lots of options for every taste.
