My truck recently developed a noise that sounded like a flat spot on a tire, or an out of balance tire. I had my tires rotated, balanced and checked for even tread wear with no issues. My next suspicion was a hub or wheel bearing. Just got the truck back from the dealer, and it is in fact a hub bearing on the front right ( noise was louder in higher speed right hand turns) The dealer quoted me $800 and some change to replace ( absurd ). I am having the dealer do the work, but I did purchase an aftermarket warranty on the truck (mine factory warranty just expired) GWC Exclusionary warranty is what I have and so far it has covered this hub and a radiator replacement with a $100 deducible.

I wanted to share this so that if others begin to hear this sound maybe it might help, I also wanted to see if anyone has any leads on stronger wheel and hub bearings for our trucks? I am thinking mine will fail often given the weight of my truck and the nature of the driving done.

Thanks

If @FULLTHROTTLERICK hasn't destroyed his hub bearings, yours might just be a defective part. I don't recall that issue coming up on this forum in the 2+ years I've been here.
Nope no hub bearing or wheel bearing issues here! To be honest, I’ve been curious lately on how to actually grease my wheel bearings since it’s something I have not done on this truck yet!

You don't grease front wheel hubs on modern vehicles, you just replace them.

It's almost always a use case issue. Big lifted trucks with super spaced out tires wear wheel bearings out faster, but the TRX was designed for it so my guess is the wheel hubs are beefier. The second thing that destroys wheel bearings is high G turning, it's why race cars always have to change their wheel hubs out. Most people aren't doing that in the TRX so it's less of an issue. I made it like 130k miles on my 2014 R/T before a wheel hub went out, but your mileage may vary.

Learn something new every day! Haven't had a truck long enough to worry about wheel bearings but it's something i dread doing on my UTVs. Glad to know i dont have to worry about it tho!
