I was on a time crunch the other day and made a huge mistake. I took the TRX through a drive through car wash.
Almost instantly once the soap covered my windshield I heard a loud crack sound. They stopped the machine and looked around. Once they got to the front of my truck the employees jaw dropped and had they had a shocked look on their face.
The car wash continued and I pulled out to the side to inspect my truck for myself then go speak with the manager.
Somehow my upper grill trim was ripped off. There’s some scratches on the hood and top of the cabin from the piece sliding up and over the truck once it’s broke. The car wash said they’ll fix it since it was caused by their equipment. I don’t have an estimate yet but I’ll respond back once I do.
Just thought I would share my mistake and get some opinions about the price. I don’t even know how something like this could happen.

I think the part is Mopar part #68443433AD

It is easy to replace yourself

I feel like this exact thing with a car wash has been posted several times over the years.

If your only replacing the plastic and buffing the hood I’ll say 550

If things get out of hand… I’ll go 1800

Been there done that, happened to me too about a year ago. One of the brushes actually tore that trim piece right off. Funny part—there was a guy in a Raptor behind me and they made him leave the line because his truck was too big.

It was about $520 for the replacement piece from the dealership. Took me maybe 15 minutes to swap it out, super easy. The car wash did cover the cost, but it dragged on forever—took them over 8 months to pay up.

Oh wow , sorry to Hear, mine has been going through automatic car washes for the past 3 years almost weekly and thankfully nothing has happened to it, the paint has some kind of "perma plate" and it still looks as good as new .
