2 months ago, I took my truck to a dealership to investigate the popular active dampening code. They found a communication error between the engine and transmission. Updated the trans, the trans error was gone.

Since then it takes almost 2 minutes for the idle to drop below 1k RPM upon a cold start (no matter the outside temperature). Always was about 30 seconds.

Whatever they did also took off the soft limiter in the park. When presenting SLP Loudmouths to a friend, I was suddenly able to rev it to 6.5k. It's always been limited to 4.5k.

This all sounds like their "fix" induced a kind of communication error between the engine and trans. Not the other way around.

Upon a call, their manager told me that he has no idea what happened. They will ask "somebody" and call one day.

I visited them to fix that damn active dampening code, avoid offroad aggressive maneveurs. They didn't fix a shit and apparently messed up something.

- How long in your truck does it take for the idle to stabilize below 1k RPM after a cold start? (hot temp outside vs cold).

Any insight appreciated.

My cold start idle drops back to normal after about 30 seconds. I've noticed that the guys on the RHO Facebook page are saying that their trucks idle at high RPM's for 2 minutes after a cold start. I wonder if it possible that the update your dealer installed was intended for the RHO. I realize the RHO has a different electrical architecture but with all of the RHO related UConnect issues we are having lately, it might be possible.

I would avoid free revving your engine to red line. Revving an unloaded engine that high is not good for your engine.

The RHO update might be the case. That would be crazy.

Yes, it should not be reved this way. This is why there has always been a soft limiter at 4.5k. I didn't expect it to go all the way to 6.5k, but stop at 4.5k as it's been always before.

My 2024 has done this (high idle) from the beginning…kind of thought this was normal since my 2018 Challenger Hellcat does the same but not as long as the TRX…

My trx does this as well after the dealership did an update to the pcm. Exhaust tone is overall much louder. I was having an issue misfiring and this fixed the issue but now my engine takes much longer to drop to 1k rpm from cold start.

Thank you guys for letting me know. Good to hear that I am not the only one.

I also heard that this might be related to some eco 2024 restrictions to prevent environmental pollution due to trucks running rich then dropping idle too early that causes some unburned fuel to leave the exhaust.

Still waiting for an update from the dealership.

Does anyone know if the 48 state or Canada emissions code allow longer high idle ?

But none should let the neutral rev go that high.

Any update on this?

Mine drops pretty quick after startup whether its hot or cold outside. It rattles glasses in the kitchen cabinets as the idle slows.

There was a kid on here awhile back looking for a way to rev high while parked, he will be stoked to hear this 🙈.

That sucks they didn't fix your problem and caused something else. May not have helped in your case but I'm glad mine has IGLA. It stops the thieves (stellantis) from flashing bs into them while at the dealer. If only it stopped ota updates, cough cough @Air’d outSRT.

Those come through uconnect I think so unfortunately its a different network

Nothing yet. Their deadline falls on Thursday.

I'm also pretty sure that the cold start is significantly louder than usual. Recently started triggering alarms in 2 motorbikes that are parked nearby. And yeah, it shakes the entire building, 4 floors, especially when idle falls from 1.6 to 1.2k.

I notice the louder exhaust right away. Not complaining in that aspect. But the rev limiter is gone and the cold start takes few seconds longer than normal. When I leave it off for 5min then start it up the trucks roars.

Goes from 1.6 to 1.2 to 1k slowly. I’ll say once the temp hits 60-80 degrees that’s when I’m at 1k or below

Exactly the same. All the way.

Interesting update. Or rather a bunch of side effects?

Still no update. Fckrs are ghosting me, they have no clue.

That said, got fixed the service active dampening system in 5 minutes by a friend of mine. Those dealership idiots couldn't even do what I told them to = 4 wheels off the ground, ride height calibration. It worked flawlessly.

Ever figured it out? Or did it fix itself?

Nothing has changed and nobody ever called me back or figured it out. I only called the dealership and said something polite about their pseudo expertise.

I assume that any potential changes or updates might come with the launch of the new TRX. Otherwise, we will be stuck this way.

OBD scan finds no error codes. It just states that the engine-transmission communication was updated at that exact time by the dealership.

When somebody has the opportunity to test the new TRX, he should definitely pay attention to the cold start and let us know.
