Driving home today I noticed the smell of coolant. When I got home I noticed the I/C coolant level was low but I do not have any signs of leaks. There are no lights or warnings on the dash. Doing a search of our great forum I see a lot of folks have had problems with the I/C pumps part number 68430016AA in case anyone needs it. Is there any sort of test or inspection I can do to determine if it's really the problem before swapping it out? Appreciate any help.

You see any smoke from your exhaust (or have any engine stuttering)? Your IC brick could be leaking coolant into the engine, which would be a bad thing.

Bricks are leaking , had the same issue new Blower and now good .

I just had to replace my I/C coolant pump on mine because I hadn’t noticed any smell or clear sign indicators it was going bad until my truck started yelling at me giving me the pretty notification on the dash the coolant level was low and it started running hotter.

Also go through your gauge clusters on the actual dash and check your running IC temps. Typically it should run no more than 20 degrees hotter than it is outside (I’ve found) if you’re shooting high, it’s time to replace the IC coolant pump. Super simple and cheaper to do yourself.

Thanks all, appreciate the feedback. Went through the truck today and just doubled checked there were no signs of leaks. Topped off the coolant and took it for a drive, no smell, no smoke I/C temp never got over 70 degrees. I'm thinking it's likely a slow IC brick leak. Has anyone swapped those out themselves? I found the part online, they are $450ish a piece but it looks like you may have to remove the entire super charger to get the lid off and replace them.

When my pump went bad I noticed it would take a lot longer for the engine temperature to warm up.

Yes, entire blower has to be pulled to swap the bricks. If you are going through the trouble make sure to upgrade to the PWR or C&R bricks. $1500ish. The OEM ones are notorious to leak.

What this guy said! If I was out of warranty, this is what I would do. Buy once, cry once; superior cooling, less chance of leaking. And if you're taking off the supercharger anyway, must as well also install one of the spacer kits. Keeps everything cooler and seals better than the factory gasket.

I marked my level last night with a sharpie and it appears to have dropped the width of the sharpie mark over night. I think I need to get this taken care of sooner than later. Does anyone know any shops near MD, DE, VA that specialize in this type of work?

HHP is in Delaware.

Well since you have the blower off time to port it and add the thermal spacers lol especially if you have to wait 4 weeks for the bricks (cordes just drop ships still 4 weeks wait time)

Do you have a catch can installed? If so, open it up. If your engine gasket has leaked into the engine, you will find a liquid that looks like a milkshake.

I do not have a catch can installed, but I did change the oil 500 miles ago and all was well. The fluid level hasn't changed in the last two days so I am starting to hope that perhaps I don't really have a problem. Likely wishful thinking. I reached out to HHP and they said they have only seen a couple sets go bad and only sold 7 sets of bricks in 5 years, so they think its rare for them to go bad. I'm going to continue to monitor it and see what I can see. Appreciate all the helpful advice.

I told the wife the 3L wipple blower would solve the problem and would make one hell of Christmas present!

Not to doubt your thoroughness, but really check the ends of your intercooler out. Mine was leaking there on the passenger side and I had it replaced. They are real cheap pieces of shit, but no problems since it was replaced. I had smelled coolant for a while before and assumed it was the bricks because I couldn't find a leak either. I'd think the smell of a leak from the intercooler would be stronger than one inside the supercharger.

Please doubt away. How did you find the leak? Did you get a puddle, see it, or did you have to do a pressure test?

Finally just saw it, it was just weeping out. I keep it washed enough it never really built up enough to puddle. You could look from the front of the grill and see it.

A uv light helps with finding a coolant leak. It did for me anyway. Hopefully it is something easier than bricks.
