Device to watch Media on Uconnect

Hey Everyone,


Saw a couple of threads talking about this and was not sure if the device I purchased was discussed. Apologies if this is a repetitive thread. I had been doing some investigation into the best device to purchase for netflix/youtube for me and my wife during our cross country move. On my way to the Puget sound area from charlotte so its gonna be a long drive hehe. I had originally debated selling my 22 TRX but decided against it with all the conversation around limited allocations for 24. This truck is too damn nice to run the risk of not being able to get one again for a reasonable price.

I purchased the following device and it has come out better than expected. Able to watch media and this device actually optimizing its display to match the screen. VERY NICE to have something take up the whole screen !! Saw some other devices but the half screen thing was not really what I was looking for. When connecting the device it actually shows up as carplay which probably helps it take up the whole screen. Below are some pictures for everyone.

Does the audio sync up correctly? Also do you hot spot it to your phone or the truck?

Pretty cool, I've seen other stream boxes that don't do full screen like this. And another one a friend had the audio was off bit

Y’all need to be careful with items like these. They have embedded malicious code. I’ll post a link to a user friendly video.

In the end it’s your choice but I wouldn’t do it personally unless you are aware of possible issue and never enter information.

Does your Netflix on that device display correctly on the 12”inch screen. Most devices cut off the sides or enlarge the video so you're not seeing everything when used in a 12” screen ?

Hey folks sorry for the late reply. Gave the truck a good wash and was packing.

Saw the comment on being cautious and would agree. Didn’t put any personal info into mine but of course practice caution as you would for any product like this.

In terms of performance it’s actually pretty good. It’s fast and responsive and have been having some fun with it. I have been using my phones hotspot and it’s been pretty good so far. This looks to be one of the later gen processors so that’s probably why it’s responsive. They probably just make the same bs every time they come out with a new gen.

Better call Saul show is where it’s at!!

YouTube app doesn’t let you go into view screen mode for the videos but the video is pretty large. I would say it goes past the half point of the screen.

I never finished Saul . I’m very impressed you’re stating it’s really responsive, usually these systems come with the worst hardware. And for the price, it is tempting. Thank you for sharing !

I use my rooted android phone and use screen2Auto ... Works like a champ.

I had bought this for my son's Ford Ranger and it worked great there (needed to achieve Wireless CarPlay). Given that Uconnect still has not released a version that allows Android Auto in Full Screen, I tried using same device on my 2023 TRX. Works VERY well (after it re-calibrated the screen). I can even get the Android Auto in full screen - see the pic.

I've had streamtoyourcar since I bought my truck. It is a little slow in the UI but works great on my 22. Only negative is that Netflix doesn't scale to the screen size so it's full screen with the edges cut off.

Seems like there are quite a few modules out there now. It would be nice to know which ones work best with our Uconnect.
