Many of you fine folks have been here for the journey since this forum was started almost three years ago. Wow, has the time flown by?! I thought I'd share the audio upgrade information like a few others as being the first group to mod these things has come with lots of benefits but challenges as well.
Went with Assault wheels from Fuel and Toyo tires. The truck was levelled with a Foutz levelling kit and then firmed up with a Hellwig Sway Bar. A Pedal Commander and a few other performance mods were completed but nothing worthy of voiding the warranty.
For the audio upgrades, we used Focal midbass, midrange and tweeters in the front and back with Mosconi amplification and a Mosconi 8 to 12 DSP. Three Focal subs were added with 1000 watts per sub and it HAMMERS.
You'll see photos of the Escort Max 360 which should make this truck totally undetectable to laser. With 13K miles on it now and me speeding everywhere, I’ve yet to be pulled over once.
After sound deadening was added to the interior of the truck a custom enclosure for three Focal 10s was constructed and we used three 1,000 watt Focal amps to make them use that surround rubber. They have a low efficiency rating but one look at the sub and mechanical Q and you can see that it's a beefcake made to function well in tight spaces like .5 of a cubic foot. Sticking with the theme of the TRX we went with inefficient and powerful. It sounds like two 15s back there and grabs low notes I’ve yet to hear from a ten inch. I've loved Focal for some time but never used their subs and these are fantastic. You can see the TRX logo made out of aluminum and the design of the truck grille was carried over and replicated here as well.
We wanted to do more highlights similar to the red stitching on the seats so the brake calipers were powder coated red and Triple B's Hellrex badges were used throughout the truck. The RAM lettering off of the sides of the truck were repurposed and Stinger LED Pods were placed in the wheel wells, under the truck, into the RamBar, behind the door speakers, floor spaces and in the hood scoop. These are all controlled in zones by the various auxiliary switches.
Now for the fun part! Hidden throughout the truck is the Escort Max CI 360 with the components of the detector discreetly hidden in the panels of the truck. The controls are at the bottom of the touch screen for marking speed traps and changing any of the settings. Above the gauge cluster is the live display that tells me what's happening, like if I'm being targeted by radar or if it's actively shifting a laser signal. Two sensors were placed at the front and rear of the truck and the pic of the rear has actually changed since then and is painted to match. You really have to be looking to notice them. So far, the system hasn’t been noticed or detected by law enforcement.
