Mopar (AMP) retractable steps coupon

I’m not sure why anyone would say they are so similar, they look & operate completely different. I’m going with AMP because they are tucked better under the truck when stowed, they are less obvious, lower profile that faces out, the Mopar steps hang down slightly more, they way they stow is different. But even more so because AMP’s deploy faster, that small delay on the Mopar steps is a bugaboo for me, you open the door & ……..

Going with the AMP override switch instead of the Unconnect, the over ride switch has the advantage of not having to get into the truck while I’m washing it to move the steps but having it on the Uconnect is really cool, not enough for me to go w the Mopars though.

The Mopar steps are manufactured by a 3rd party & Mopar pays a patent fee to AMP.

i didnt realize the amp came with an override switch, where is this switch located? would it be near the OBD2 port or can you mount it somewhere else?

Its an option. You can mount it wherever you want, I’ll probably put it around the fuse panel area or just to the left. There are 3 different part #’s for it, its the one for $39.

Just picked up mopar power running boards - 2219.70 including tax (total cost) - operation is outstanding - makes the vehicle much more drivable (don’t dread the knee pain from jumping out now) - probably should have been an option from the factory - was quoted 2200 (? with or without tax) for cheapest of the three AMP options - mopar seems plenty sturdy and is on the Uconnect screen - for me this was best choice - service people were extremely nice (nicest I’ve encountered - wasn’t sure how to take that)

There are some differences in the way they look & operate. I’m going with AMP because they are tucked better under the truck when stowed, they are less obvious, have a lower profile. The Mopar steps hang down slightly more, the way they are shaped & stow is different.. Probably not that important for everyone but… More so because AMP’s deploy faster, that small delay on the Mopar steps is a bugaboo for me, you open the door & ……..⌛

Wanted the LED’s too, the puddle lights on the mirrors are useless at that area when the doors open. My steps are in, just have to install them. You really cant go wrong with either though imo, just depends on what’s important to you.

Great write-up. Are the steps on the White Ram the AMP or Mopar? My assumption is Amp as it looks like that is less of a gap, and you mentioned the Amp steps sit closer to the body.

Can you leave these deployed? It might be nice driving down gravel roads to help avoid rock chips.

if you get the amp steps you have to get the override switch to deploy when the doors are closed. if you have the mopar steps you can deploy if you get the soft buttons on the screen activated

I just ordered the Mopar power running boards(82215287AE) from the parts department of my dealer. With the coupon code(15% off MSRP), plus tax, I paid $1,401.25. I also confirmed with their Service department that I can use the other 10% off coupon for the install when my truck eventually shows up for PDI. They didn't give me a cost for install, but based off what others have said(and the Mopar site), install is estimated at 2-3 hours.

Coupon code for 15% off Accessories and Parts(valid until 12/31/2021): 001BOLO
Coupon code for 10% off Service(valid until 12/31/2021): 001FOLO

Which AZ dealer are you using? I ordered from Chapman and expecting mine in October. I would like to order three and be ready. Thanks.

Tempe Ram. They said they were 1 day out when I ordered yesterday, so they should have them today.

Anyone know why the 15% off code isn't working anymore for the power running boards?
Damn, was just about to use it! lol

Can it be tied into one of the Aux switches?
It's an SPDT switch (single pole, double throw), so the best you could do is use two Aux switches (with two additional relays) to mimic the function. But yes, technically it's doable.

Tom488 just said it’s doable. I had the install done & really like the way the over ride switch is mounted in my truck, I dont have to get in to operate & no need to have my key/ ignition on, just helps when washing, etc. That & other reasons I went w/ AMP’s though vs MOPAR; the speed that they deploy, they‘re less noticeable under the truck, they hang down slightly less, the LED lighting, think they’re quieter & imo they just seem like they’re better quality.

That’s a great placement for the switch. Looks OEM. And the LEDs give it that touch of “class.”

I agree - that looks perfect, and is much more useful to deploy without getting in the truck (not sure about others, but I'm 6'2", and I can't reach the aux switches from outside the truck)

The coupon codes are not some fancy catch phrase like "ADVENTUREDAYS". They are more like randomly generated codes, and the ones I was talking about don't expire until end of December(12/21) for both the 15% off Accessories and for 10% off Service.

Here's the link to the coupons.

Just call the parts department of the dealership and order the Mopar powersteps and tell them you have a coupon code for 15% off. The part# for the Mopar powersteps is 82215287AE, which replaced 82215287AD earlier this year. Coupon code for 15% off is 001BOLO. Print out the actual coupon from the Mopar site and bring with you just in case they screw something up and don't apply the discount. (please note the 2 zero's vs the 2 letter O's in the code)

Then talk to the Service department at the dealership that is going to do the install, and tell them you have a coupon code for 10% off Service for the install of the steps. Coupon code for that is 001FOLO. They'll just tell you to print out the coupon and bring it in when you come pick up the truck after install. (please note the 2 zero's vs the 2 letter O's in the code). The Mopar site states the steps require 2-3 hours of installation time, so make sure they don't charge you more time than that. I had to have the Service Manager adjust my work order down from 5 hours.

Overall, I paid $1,401.25 total(includes tax) for the steps. and $351 for labor and flashing the system(make sure you remind them they need to flash the system to add the steps to your VIN and so it shows up on the Uconnect screen).

At the end of the day, I absolutely LOVE the Mopar power steps. I can't tell you one negative I personally have with them. And I like how I can "deploy" the steps when parking in a lot somewhere, to help protect against door dings from a-holes. The "Deploy Steps" option is on the Uconnect screen and will leave the steps deployed until the next time you start it up. Enjoy!
