Hi fellow TRXers,

So, had the dealer install the latest UConnect update a few weeks ago and now I cannot seem to get CarPlay back onto my Home Screen map ? I was able to display it in the Home Screen prior to the latest upgrade (see photo). Anyone else having this issue? Thx

Do you have to re-edit the pages? Curious if wiped settings/preferences out

Yes, the update wiped all settings out and I had to set everything up again. Previous to to update when I set up the widgets I had an option for apps, that does not seem to exist any longer? This is all the options available as far as I can tell

My ‘22 shows CarPlay in full screen. Never messed with having it display any other way.

Mine shows in full screen as well, but previous to the latest update I was able to get it to display on the Home Screen. I am not a fan of the TomTom map view and liked Waze as the map on the Home Screen. I have an appointment for an oil change and a warranty repair this week at the dealer, I’ll ask them and advise the group

When I got my truck last August I had an OTA update along the way early on that wiped out all of my settings as well. It's possible that's what happened to you. Regarding the map. Is Waze your default map app on your phone? UConnect might be too dumb to look for a specific app on your phone and is just calling the default maps app.

Thanks - I had it with Waze on the Home Screen before the latest update, I think they changed something in the update that now prevents it ? This is what I had set before the update.

I set mine up like the OP quite a while ago, but if I recall correctly - you need to have your phone actively connected to the system's carplay in order for the widget to show up to place on the custom screen.

pretty sure you are right. I went down without my phone and the custom page wasn’t available. Once I had the phone connected it was there.

Bump, this last weekend my Carplay disappeared from the bottom of the screen, not sure what changed. I removed my phone, re added it and I can only stream music via Bluetooth. If I turn WiFi or Bluetooth off on my iPhone it will ask me if I want to disconnect from Carplay, so it acts like its connected and maybe it is, but the button that I would press on the Uconnect screen on the bottom that says "Carplay" is gone. Hmmm, anybody else or any ideas?

did you do a soft reset of the uconnect?

Customer prefers the "soft button" reset options
  • Open the VEHICLE app --> scroll to SETTINGS --> scroll to RESET and choose one of the following:
    • SOFT RESET/REBOOT - performs a cold reboot which completely restarts the radio and all peripheral devices in the radio.
    • FACTORY RESET- *CAUTION: This action wipes saved user data from the radio and reverts everything back to factory default settings. (Presets, Favorites, Profiles, Paired Phones will be cleared). We recommend deleting and re-pairing any mobile devices after performing a factory reset. See instructions below.**

  • Press and hold the "power button/knob" in for 10 seconds or more

I did the hard button one last night with no luck, I'll try the other one. Where the Carplay button used to be is an icon of a phone, I'm prob missing or overlooking something silly. But it sure is nice having the iPhone maps on full screen when I actually need turn by turn directions. Thank you for the reply @Quietpeen 👊

If you have the phone icon instead of car play icon your phone isn’t connected anymore

If its connected playing music, how do I get it connected on a Carplay level again? The bluetooth and wifi are on (bluetooth blue and wifi gray) 🫠

since soft reboot didn't work try this.

Deleting & Re-Pairing Mobile Devices
  1. "Forget" your mobile device and Uconnect system on the respective units
    1. On Apple device Go to Settings>General>Carplay>Forget this Device.
    2. On Radio Go to Phone> Settings> Select Device in List and Delete the device.
    3. On the Phone, Go to Settings> Bluetooth> Unpair/Forget Existing "Uconnect" and duplicates.
  2. Ensure that your mobile phone's software and Uconnect software are both up to date. Then restart phone and pair again.
  3. Make sure Siri is on & CarPlay is not restricted.
    1. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and ensure CarPlay is enabled.
    2. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

I did the other reset last night, appears to be working now. Thanks. I learn a little more every time something wonky happens.
