What do you guys forecast: do you predict that the launch edition will be more valuable at the time of resale down the road - say 3 or four years from now - compared to a similarly optioned non special edition TRX?

The moderators of this site has pointed out the Launch Editions:

1) Don't have any options you can get on regular order TRX.
2) Launch Edition color Anvil, was applied to atleast 7 regular TRX's.
3) No special VIN #'s.
4) The only difference is the red center console badge vs the black one.

So I guess the 2 questions are, is it worth an extra $10,000.00 for a red center counsel badge or if you really like Anvil color?

If there is any special option that I missed, please let me know.

Everything is relative to their personal opinion.

According to RAM, anvil color is exclusive to the launch edition. It says so in the list of included features.

My LE is replacing my 2019 Ram that has 40,000 miles. I am not worried about resale 3-4 years from now. In my case...it’s not going to matter.

If a vehicle year and model is more collectable and more valuable 99.99% of the time the most rare version is what brings the most value. It is actually looking like from the numbers being produced that Blue and Silver will be the most rare for 2021 model year excluding the 7 or so non launch editions that got painted Anvil. But rarity would likely only increase the value over a much longer term (20+ years) and if half of the people who end up with a launch edition stick it in their garage for 20 plus years and their family sells it at auction after they die there is likely going to be more of those specimens available than other colors that are more likely to have been bought as daily drivers.

There are a lot of factors that could make a low mileage garage kept stock TRX appreciate in value over the relative short term (2-4 years), the biggest one being if they kill off the hellcat platform and V8s in general as the EPA forces better fuel economy and EVs. In that case its the engine and transmission that would be driving the price up and all similarly optioned TRXs would be of similar value regardless of color. The same as the Demon, there are more rare colors than others but if you see any color selling on the market they are all going for about the same money and its only 3 years old.

That being said a vehicle is almost always a rapidly depreciating asset, and IMO the TRX is too much fun to drive to worry about the possibility of it going up slightly in value to keep off the roads. If you are interested in it as an investment only there are a lot easier and safer ways to double or triple $90k in 3-4 years

Its not, and moderators of this forum have documented all the items I listed. I just re-listed their discovered data. They have proven it. You cant make this stuff up. Just like all the assembly problems.

That's what all the outrage is about. They have built atleast 7 regular TRX's with Anvil paint, as of end of February.
I ordered a LE, but now knowing what we know, The Limited Edition is just for LE name, its not so limited in options in actuality, but in name and red center console badge. Maybe that is enough. But for $10,000.00 more, you better love that non exclusive color and red center console badge. It should have a color and options not available on regular TRX orders. But sadly it i not.

Search around the forum or YouTube, its all documented there.

The only difference is your paying $10,000.00 more for a red center counsel badge. They have made a base TRX in Anvil and all options are the same except red center console badge. It is what it is.

Welcome to the forum, as you get deeper into the rabbit hole, you find a lot of thing that are not what FCA RAM says they are. Its just a learning curve.

Start with RAM TRX defects videos on YouTube

Just FYI,

They don't actually charge anything more for the LE, the LE package just forces you to get all the graphics package hood and side decal sunroof HK stereo etc. If you option out a LE the exact same as any color other than black (black doesn't have the 2 tone paint upcharge) the MSRPs will be exactly the same. So technically if you got a LE for MSRP and wanted all the options anyway they gave you the special red badge "for free"

If you have #1 and dont drive it you will see an increase. All other trucks are just that other trucks.
#1 is going to be auctioned this month for charity and will likely go for low 7 figures like all the rest of the VIN 001s in the recent past

That is true, but like you said, you can get the color you want and none of fluff, you dont want, if so deemed for a lot less. But the scam is, its the Launch Edition, its the special/rare edition, which is not.

To each its own. But people who ordered LE trucks, like me, then found out regular TRX's were built in Anvil, realized it not so limited, thus you might of bought a lot less of extra stuff, if your never going off road.

The Launch Edition should of had a higher HP Hellcat, 2WD & 4WD, different rims from standard TRX and special exterior badging. Make it different somehow significantly.

The only 2 items that are suppose to be different, from regular TRX are the exterior paint and red console badge, and the anvil paint has been put on base TRX configured models.

How does that even happen.

Anvil is also on built to serve units (Big Horns basically) as well so I am not surprised they messed up the paint

But people keep paying 20K over. CRAZY

It was like that at end of January, beginning of February, when they were first starting to be delivered.

I got lucky, when we bought my son's challenger, wanted a certain engine, certain stripes, body, wheels and options, there were only a few with in reasonable search distance and one exact match. Bought from out of state and they delivered it. A couple week later on follow up text about car and dealership, I asked if they had any TRX's coming in. He asked the sales manager and he said they just ordered 2. Then 6 months later, when it arrived at dealer the saleman texted me and said the first TRX was there, if I wanted it as MSRP?

In February there were no TRX's for sale on eBay, now there are 40 for sale. So add in auto-trader, cars.com and other online sites and dealers, how many are actually available to buy.

I could see this if they only made the 702 original Launch Edition's and that was it, no other models or colors. But there are a ton of these available, you just need to shop for one at MSRP.

The only time I broke even was when 2019 RAM's hit the market and FCA had $14,500.00 in rebates and incentives thru end of January 2019. That was a deal, never seen that again, as truck has been very popular.

So Anvil is or is NOT available in non-launch editions? I just ordered my truck and was told it is not available.

There have been 7 Avil TRX's that are not launch editions, one was a base entry level. It was suppose to be the Launch Edition only color but it did not work out that way.

If you or dealer has contacts inside, you may be able to get it. Otherwise, how did these truck get built equipped with non launch edition equipped, non launch edition console badge, but painted Anvil?

I think the only thing that is truely unique on launch editon is the red center console badge.

I get so many compliments on the Anvil. People driving through the neighborhood will stop and tell me that’s the best color they’ve ever seen. But, Granite has always been my favorite. Even thought about changing my order, but believed them when they said the LE’s would be delivered 1st and did not want to delay my delivery. I do like the Anvil, just like Granite a bit more. Now that it is clear there is nothing special about the Launch Edition, there is no reason not to go Granite. The Chip Shortage is goofing things up - got to have the heads up display, so it could be a while.
I was really torn on Anvil, I almost cancelled my LE over the color. My wife loved it and convinced me to try it and if I didn't like it sell it and flip to a Granite or Silver. I love the Anvil now but never would have selected it on-line. as others have said, it is a color that simply doesn't photograph well (at all.)

I feel that the Launch Edition will have a slight edge on value giving it a small upwards adjustment but I don’t think it’ll be anything to make a significant difference. @JRex I understand where you are coming from and although all facts, facts don’t always dictate the outcome unfortunately when it comes to people making decisions. We are very well educated on all of this due to the forum and time spent but there are many who simply do not have the intuition or know how to find this forum or want to spend the time researching all the ins and outs of this truck. So many people are still paying high ADM due to this and dealerships will keep playing any cards they have on unsuspecting buyers. This is why I think you’ll still be able to get a smidge more for the LE but nothing spectacular.

No it will not, in a couple of years when a bunch of TRXs start showing up on the used market most buyers won’t care...
