Just got off the phone with Joel over at ADS. He's a production mgr. so not 100% in the know on the exact specifics of the TRX kit in progress but he has picked up some info that he shared with me.

PREFACE = NOTHING BELOW IS SET IN STONE. IT'S JUST WHAT THEY THROWING AROUND & TESTING AT THE MOMENT.
  • They are currently Testing MBR (multi-bypass ring) shocks on a Rex w/1200hp running E85
  • FRONTS = 3.0 coil over
    • They're having to put a "ridiculous amount of rebound & valving" up front for some reason. He had heard about the shock top-out issue & thinks that could be why.
  • REARS = Rear smooth body 3.0 (they could probably squeeze a 3.0 bypass in there too but there would be clickity clack)
    • Smooth body Rear would still have 2 hoses with high/low speed compression & rebound adjusters
    • Might lose a tiny bit of up travel from stock to gain some down travel (he thinks they are around 10-12" travel shocks but not sure).
    • Rears might use an Eibach-style yellow foam bump stop but he couldnt say for sure
  • EST. COST:
    • Fronts would prolly cost somewhere around $5500-6k
    • Rears would prolly cost around $3k
  • They normally tune around the live valves but i mentioned the forum would prolly go bananas if they could find a way to integrate w/OEM drive modes & live valves.
@Fifty bless us with your insight!!

The mbr is super trick. Tons of zones, makes the king ibp which is really just an internal bump stop look kind of pedestrian.

The guys at ads… they like to fuck… that’s really how I can describe their tuning and driving style. They hammer their personal vehicles and that’s how they design the stuff the make.

I guarantee they will have an external bypass version for the rear, clicks get chicks is a quote of theirs.

Their new reservoir witb the dual speed comp and dual speed rebound adjusters are flipping sick.

Great to hear! But what about their Rear offering? Even if they offer a external bypass, it'd be a 3.0 with a foam bump vs. King's rear external 3.5 with hydraulic bump. I like the idea of the bigger 3.5 & the hydraulic bump but I'd prefer to get all 4 corners from the same company.

I will say it's nice that they are a smaller shop and willing to tune their shocks for your riding style & the weight of your rig. Tuning for weight IMO is 1 of the biggest factors in a smooth ride. I'll never forget when i started racing d-bikes back in the day and i had a set of Showa shocks with Eibach springs and once I sent them to get tuned for my weight, I was at least 50% faster on the track and trail. Night & day!

They have a hydraulic bump already through Foutz.
And again… I’ll bet $3 that they have all the specs sitting for a 5 tube bypass for the truck.

The problem is, they follow this board and the trx Facebook page. All the people complaining about the clicking sound made their daddy Holley worried.
So the smoothies are going to be the first.

King did the same thing after all the click worries.

Well. These got leaked.

Here is the front MBR coilovers being tested.
They look like the 3.0 mbr with their version of the Baja cooler. Which is a reservoir that’s large, has high speed and low speed comp and rebound clickers.

Ugh. Sadly I was hoping they were going to dual rate the shock. So options of 500lb rate that ramped up to 700 maybe.
Ah well.

So here is the deal with the mbr. It’s works like the fox internal bypass shocks. There are trade offs.
The pros are it is like have a bypass; meaning the shock can act vastly different depending on where it is in the stroke. Just like our bilsteins, but the bilsteins do it through an electric driven spool valve. So imagine if the clickers on the ads or kings were electronically controlled etc etc.

The biggest draw back to the internal bypass set up is size.
Our bilsteins are a 2.6” diameter shock. And aluminum (which adds to the cooling) so I’d say it handles heat like a steel bodied 2.8-3.0 shock. Hard to justify that statement. My opinion only.
The kings are a 3.0 up front.
The ads are a 3.0 internal bypass mbr. Which means it’s probably a 2.5-2.6 piston and internal body. Also it has a 2.5” reservoir so, probably a 2.5 inner body.

If the bypass ports can flow as much as the bypass tubes on their bigger external bypass shocks. Then it has really solved the problem fox had. The reeds on fox couldn’t flow enough and would snap and they had to either be a tuned bypass or be an open bypass. So that means the ads should ride nice and smooth.

Ok. I’m babbling. I’m really hoping ADS is doing something special out back. I really am.

(Also these pics show the Foutz lca that has the provision for a bypass. I’d like an 3.0 ads dual rate coilover with the remote dual tube cooler, and a 3.0 bypass w/dual tube cooler up front, and a 4” 5 tube bypass with the remote 4 way adjustable cooler out back…. Maybe when I win the lotto)

So, when are these going to be available and how do they compare to the Kings? I'm about to drop some money on suspension and I was waiting to see if ADS was better than the King options.

Ads front will have 3 zones and rears will have 5.
So that means 2 rings in the front and 4 in the rear.

Kings ibp coilover has 2 zones. The main zone and then the internal bump stop.

The rear king smoothie ibp will have 2 zones. Same

The rear king external bypass is a 4 tube, so also will have 5 zones.

Got a voicemail from ADS yesterday. The MBR shocks are about finalized and ready for sale. Who wants to be the guinea?!?!

This a stock height type of deal?

I imagine the off the shelf ones yea but ADS seems very good about customizing your shit before sending it to you so i imagine you can use eibach level/lift springs but I'm not 100% on that

I’m down to be a suspension guinea pig but I’ve changed the springs to geiser and have a king rear axle shock

I wish they would make a regular front shock with their Baja cooler, and a regular 4 tube bypass out back.
