My Brand New TRX broke into an vandalized

Maybe there should be a class action lawsuit , like Kia had, and force Mopar to come up with decent security options.
Cheaper for them to payout than retrofit every vehicle. They don’t care and make more money by them getting stolen. Do a search on just this forum for one getting stolen and someone asking how long to build another, or who has one mine was stolen. They sell 2+ when its stolen🤷‍♂️

I still have no clue why they smash the windows out, stupid if you ask me. I've posted this earlier how the thieves did mine. Puncture or drill a small hole in the drivers side glass, insert metal pick and pop up the lock button. No broken out window to draw attention(especially in winter), no glass to sit in or clean up and alot quieter.

Some are smarter than others.

I did this to my door lock knobs, but it wasn't for slowing down a thief. I suppose it might help with your situation.

This sets the alarm off (horn) as its from the inside while the car is locked... providing they didnt cut the horn wires. The horn wiring being cut is rare with these thefts.

Stats show that the back window and key program is the "preferred route".

See, for us up here they pull the horn wires first, drill hole in D/S window, pop up door lock pin, open door (lights flashing but no sound fromhorn/alarm going off) jump in, reprogram new key then drive off. Once they get a safe distance away they drop the panel under the steering coloum and pull the infotainment fuse to deactivate the GPS and tracking systems, no hacking apart the interior or wires. Then they take the truck somewhere to "cool off" and scan for trackers. After a couple hrs they come back and see if theres any cops or people around the truck, if not they get back in and continue to the ports to put it into a container, bye bye TRX.

Yea essentially the same in the US, but without the drilling/horn, at least generally. In the cities, they are more bold, and give no shits, it would appear.

Sad.

Your shit can get stolen anywhere… not just Houston. I have two brother in laws that are HPD so I know how bad Houston can be but I feel Houston is getting a lot of hate, use common sense, get extra security, park in a garage overnight, no airport parking or valets LoL, just some things that need to be done to own a SRT vehicle ANYWHERE!! At least Houston is still part of Texas one of the last few great states left.

Thanks for all the support guys!

I still hate Houston, the idea of the Texas dream is supposed to be is great. I love the values and good old conservative views that the true Texans have. In some areas, I bet it’s one if the best place to live and raise a family. But These days in the big cities it’s being ruined by the blue and it’s nothing like I envision as Texan ways (Imagining as I am not from here).

On another note, I am going through the process of getting my Truck fixed. Basically the insurance wants a quote and for me to take care of the payments and they will send me the money. Where should I go for the window, dash, seats and door / paint damage. Honestly, it pains me to say it but Kinda wish it just got stolen and I could just have a new one again. I don’t want to see these guys win.

On that note I need advice. Where in Houston should I go? Is this something a dealer can do as a 1 stop shop? Any advice or recommendations in Houston?

To the member that brought up my HOAs, I got clear video of the vehicle that did the damage, I can’t make out the plate but it’s clearly them and I can see they came through the wide open broken exit gate. I don’t know what this will be worth to persue in legal action as my vehicle wasn’t stolen but I am interested to go after them. After all my vehicle will never feel new again when it had all of 120 miles on it. Also smell like swamp right now and took some heavy damage. In resale I will take a big hit also, not to mention my deductible is $2k and my premiums will jump now.

Sadly people get away with it. I don’t know if it’s the police staff on HPD is short or they just prefer to go after easier to nail down crime.

When the cop showed up 12 hours after I reported it, he didn’t even want to look at damage. I told him many neighbors may have some footage of the culprits, he didn’t want to persue anything.

I took a bit of a shot at him saying that, good things it wasn’t life threatening and also you gave the thief’s a 12 hour head start.

Houston is becoming to liberal and full of dead beats.
I’m surprised, Atlanta PD was there in 10 minutes and was super engaged. I was impressed.
