So I had mounted a Gold Star holster on the driver side interior of the center console. It has a Velcro mounting pad with adhesive on one side that you stick to the smooth plastic of the interior console side wall. The holster portion then attaches by Velcro to the mounting pad. The adhesive pad itself is pretty large, approx 3 x 6 so it is a pretty large contact area.

Initially this held in place just fine but after a few months (this was over the summer) I think the heat within the cab when it was parked outside during the day weakened the adhesive and it would detach from the console wall.

I was considering putting screws into the console sidewall to hold it securely. Has anyone put screws in the interior sidewall of the console and if so what type of screw is best to use and length to ensure it doesn't go all the way through the side?

Or has anyone used an adhesive that stands up to the heat encountered by a closed up cab sitting in the sun?

Opinions and suggestions welcome.

If you are going to use screws, what about a magnetic mount? I also like my safe especially if I have to go in somewhere you can't carry. Have you thought about a safe?

I bought this but haven't made time to mount it.

Thanks for that info. I have thought about a safe and haven't ruled that out yet. Which one do you have? People seem to like the Lok R Down safe. Not so sure about the mag mounts, think I prefer a holster over those.

This is the one I have. Between the glove box storage and being able to have a few things on top of the safe it's good. I prefer the one in my 2019 Raptor but I've gotten used to this one. I can fit several magazines and 2 pistols. Glock 19 in a Blackhawk paddle holster and a Sig P365XL in a iwb holster.

I thought about using the mag mount on that side pocket by your right knee but haven't got around to installing it.

Thanks for that info. You have me back to reconsidering going with this. Was installation pretty simple? No rattles or anything from the unit when installed?

Yes, simple install, they are separate pieces that you place inside. It's easier to install than the Raptor safe. The metal parts of the safe don't make any noise and I don't hear things moving around in there, even with aggressive driving. The only negative to this keypad is the lack of tactile feel. You really have to go off the audible beep to be sure the number was pressed. With the tumbler style in my Raptor I could open the safe without looking.
