Wrapped TRXs

Bak Revolver X4S. Just needed to cut a bit out of the rails for the horizontal bolt heads of the ram bar.

I didn’t fit my previous ram box one so not sure how that went but I found this one a bit of a faff. Had to put some shims on one side to centre the cover on rail and also half shims to make the rails horizontal so the tailgate shut.

The plastic end caps had broken off in transit so I’m going to have to try glueing those.

Now it’s been a couple of weeks it’s settled in and I’m happy with it. Seems pretty good in rain, couple of minor drips at corners, much better than previous ram box one on Rebel. Looks close to bar when rolled but it doesn’t seem to hit or be a problem.

Looks good!! Any idea if you can put a motorcycle in the bed with front wheel against bed/cover? Or is it easily removed?

Considering the matte 3m military green on my white TRX.

How is the upkeep from a washing perspective? Foam cannon or do you use car washes?

I love my graphics as well and like the stealth of keeping the decals on and wrapping over.

Loving the looks, keep them coming!
I’ve never gone through a car wash before and won’t after. But I do use a foam cannon and hose. I don’t pressure wash it anymore but I’m pretty sure it could handle it. Go to a shop and see if you can play with some scraps. You’ll be amazed by the beating it can take.

Another green one. Not the 3m one though. I thought it’d end up a hair darker, but I still love it.

Don’t know, it sits on top of the bed rails so a proportion would go underneath, depends on diameter of wheel. It could butt up to it but you’d loose space at the front.

There’s 4 bolts with thumb turns which you remove to take the roller part off. From memory they are Simmonds and I had to use a pair of grips. It would be a faff if you want to do it frequently. They go into slots so you can adjust the cover position front to rear. I suppose you could mark them for speedy repositioning.

It’s quite heavy, I struggled on my own, I am a woman and whilst not the strongest I’m not a weakling either. No doubt you are stronger than me though. I don’t think any of the roller covers would be easy to keep taking in and out.

What a helpful thread this one is. Thx all - especially being able to see taking color down the sides removing the two tone and seeing how it looks. So many options! Now to find the best color options to use for a quality vinyl

Sure, from my perspective they are just expensive for what you get. If you ceramic coat the vinyl post install it will definitely be easier to care for, but it is still a true PITA. I am very OCD with my cars, I do all my own paint correction and wash all of them each week. The upkeep in vinyl is more than paint, it is just more fragile. I've now had installs of Avery, 3M, and Inozetek - To me, the only time I was happy with a wrap was when it wasn't my daily driver. I had a 911 GT3 which was wrapped and held up well. Bottom line, is I'm just done pissing the money away on vinyl

For those thinking they will do this for scratch protection on trails DO NOT do it... Do yourself a favor and spend that money on full coverage PPF or even stealth PPF. Vinyl wrap is significantly thinner than PPF and is very easy to tear. On my 4Runner I've seen pinstriping tear the vinyl of scrub brush even when creeping through trails. I think vinyl wrap is around 3 mil thick where PPF is more than twice that thickness.
Would you say switching to a matte wrap helps maintenance? I'm so damn tired of washing the black soot off my white truck. I want to go Green or Grey Matte finish. Never done it before so any help is appreciated

Did you ever do this? I'm in the exact same boat as you? Please tell me you did so I can pull the trigger lol

I did not as I have had some other home renovation projects take precedent.
It is still on the list and really considering but its lower down unfortunately.

Hoping you do now so I can copy! haha

Picked up the truck with the new wrap today.
Main colour is an Avery Dennison green but not sure of exact name.
Stripes/hood in Oracal matt mint green and 3M camouflage.

Truck is black and I left in paint the roof (pano so hardly any paint anyway), handles, door shuts and only a small section of the rockers to line up with the plastic which detracts from the steps.
