PPF Xpel Cost

You are probably correct. From the looks of the finished product it's likely they wasted a lot of product trying to get it right. That being said it's NOT on @Mjaestewart
The installer misrepresented his ability to do a quality install. Full PPF is not easy to install correctly. Installer took on a project that was more than he could handle or allowed an unqualified applicator to do the job. Either way the customer should be compensated for terrible job. Not a simple fix and confidence is gone. No way I would let them touch my truck again.
With all due respect and not trying to offend anyone but if you’re a consumer about to drop thousands of dollars on a wrap for your almost 6 figure truck it’s on you as the truck owner to do extensive research on the shops you’re considering. The ones you’re gonna entrust to do that said work to your very expensive truck. It’s on you as the consumer to read every review you can. From the good ones all the way to the worst ones. It’s even on you to try and track down previous customers of that shop you’re considering having work done at and ask them every question you can think of.

Both mine and my Wife's trucks went D1 within a week of each other. Both are Granite and the plan has been to keep one mostly stock and mod up the other. Would like to start with a complete Xpel Stealth PPF. What kind of quotes and costs are those of you getting it done seeing? I got a quote from a shop in Columbus, OH at 11K which included ceramic coating and wheel coating. Sounds steep to me but not a lot of installers to compare to near me. I am in WV and willing to travel a reasonable distance and be a tourist for a few days while the work is done. Info appreciated!
Full Xpel wraps are very expensive and labor intensive when done right. BUT don’t let a high price fool you into thinning that will mean a good job. I suggest you MUST do a ton of research into 3 different shops. That’ll include reading every single review as you can. From the best to the worst. I would also try to track down as many customers as possible that had work done in those said shops. If you do your diligence and as much of it as possible you’ll be just fine. To conclude, a full XPEL wrap will cost you thousands for sure. Just be careful.

I'm not quite sure I follow the logic in your argument. You're assuming no research was done, no questions were asked, and as if I didn't call many shops to check on prices and ask about historical jobs that were completed. Did you follow and read all of my posts pertaining to this topic. For someone that suggests research you clearly didn't do your own.

First, I asked every important question there is to ask on this topic. If you followed my posts then you'd see that one of the most important questions I asked is if the shop was certified by XPEL, which they stated they were not only certified but trained out in Texas by XPEL. After taking delivery of the truck I called XPEL and found this was all a lie. So it's my fault I was lied to? C'mon you make no sense in what you're saying.

Also, I specifically asked questions about the wrap itself, previous customer success stories, HIS OWN car sitting there PPF'd as well, and more importantly the topic of perfection and doing a seamless wrap. All which were answered in the way a customer would want to hear. Obviously, all lies as well.

Second point, the shop has instagram and other social media, including their own website, which I posted links to if you read through my previous posts, that shows this shop doing high end cars like Bentley's, and much more. Was I fooled by their posts? Maybe.

Third point, I've done weeks and weeks of research on the PPF topic. From YouTube videos to many other forums out there. You think I would just drop this much money without doing any research?

Last point, if ANY shop were willing to give out personal information on another customer that would be the #1 red flag. Not only that but it's likely illegal without the permission of the customer.

I'm not sure if you're just trolling or if your argument is honest and sincere? In either case I can't understand your argument of this being my fault.

I agree with this argument 100%! I don't think the installer knew what he was getting into, and I'm sure he wasted lots of product and time trying to get it right. Unfortunately, after a month, he gave my truck back that was badly defected. Not only the PPF but improperly installed panels that were removed to attempt a seamless wrap. And I won't ever let them put another finger on my truck.

that is the problem with PPF installs it's never perfect for the amount of money they ask for

Did u pay w ur CC?

If shop doesn't want to redo it right - Contest it on your credit card by sending those pics in

I only did the partial front on mine with front lights instead of the full truck and was $700

I spent money on other upgrades like ADD bumpers, catch can, 5R air kit

I had a similar PPF experience - the shop you choose is extremely important and always use a CC to pay so you have an ally
Oh I got every penny back for this shitty job that he did. AMEX said they usually takes 90 days to research the issue and finish their investigation. After submitting all the photos, they favored my case in less than 24 hours.

Not insulting your guy (yeah I am), but he is a liar. That is not film off a plotter, those irregular cuts are from some novice installer who not only screwed up your PPF but also cut your paint with a trim knife. They could has set the software to cut the pieces larger, so they would have enough film to wrap all the edges. I would get a full refund + damages and take it to another shop and turn him in to Xpel. Whatever you do, DO NOT let him touch your truck again. Also ask him about his liability if your paint is damaged while removing the film? Pulling off film is a dicey deal, if RAM had any paint adhesion issues.....he will find them!
Great advice! I'm on hold at the current moment as I have too many things going on right now. But by the end of summer this will be addressed. I'm guess taking them to small claims court? What would be your next step?

Trolling ? Not sincere ? I literally start by writing “ with all due respect “ & that I was NOT trying to offend anyone in anyway ….. relax.
I’m sorry I even decided to write something. Have a great day.

Couldn’t help myself

So I made a surprise visit yesterday at the shop to check on my truck. I did a walk around and was very happy with the level of detail that's being done to my TRX. As you can see in the photos that all plastics, door handles, badges, stickers, and lights have been taken off to be wrapped around ALL edges as promised. I'd highly recommend shops that do this level of quality when wrapping your vehicle/ truck.

I checked all crevices/spaces and all corners are wrapped. You'll see in the photos that they still need to cut the excess and wrap under edges. I saw the Xpel Ultimate wrap they are using which is the thickest 10cm thick and they even gave me a big piece to explore with on my own. I saw the machine they have to do their custom cuts along with the precuts for the areas that they have no choice but to use the stencils via software. They will be applying 3-4 coats of ceramic over the entire truck, including windows, after the PPF install. Then the ceramic tint on the windows all around. SO far I'm happy with what I see.

Looking to get my truck back tomorrow evening or early Sunday morning. Can't wait to drive her again.

You’re welcome brotha! Glad I can help!

Just got mine done in Xpel Fusion (whole truck) + they ceramic coated wheels for $5k (this took some haggling as original quote was about $7k). Got a couple minor issues that they’ll be replacing those areas whenever i want to schedule so ill make sure to hug the off-road brush on that side of the rig since it’ll be replaced anyway.

Also you can find them at $390 but I would highly suggest to purchase the one that’s cost $500plus.
The $390 Ones will Fit 2019 to 2021 ram and jeep.
I will
Post this pic just in case you have a 2021 TRX

So after weeks of research, contacting every shop in NJ, Downstate NY, and Eastern PA, I’ve come to learn a few things.

1. Either lots of folks are exaggerating the low prices they are getting for their PPF or
2. inflation has hit the PPF space hard

I say this so that new folks aren’t going out of their minds when they see the quotes they receive.

The lowest quote I’ve gotten was $8,500 from a less reputable shop.

The majority have been between $9,500 and $12,500 and one as high as $14k

This is for Full Dynomatt or XPEL Stealth PPF, Ceramic Coating, and Ceramic Window Tint.

I paid around $8,500 a year and half ago...from a reputable installer. Included all of the above and interior, and wheel coating along with pano/windshield tint.
