Normal Wind Noise?

Thanks for posting! I rolled past 4k miles a few weeks ago and suddenly got wind noise from the passenger side. GF said she can actually feel air. Going to try the tape and see how it goes. Dealer is my absolute last option
Yeah, definitely try everything before going to the dealer. I dropped my truck off at the dealership I bought it from for a "software update" (that they apparently couldn't do over the air), and a couple other minor things expecting a 24hr turnaround. They kept the truck for a week. I finally picked it up, hopped on the highway to get to work, and noticed some wind noise coming from the sunroof area. Pulled over, got out, and climbed up in the bed to find not only was the sheet metal on the roof dented all to hell, the rear pane of glass in the pano-sunroof was pushed/bowed down about an inch. I could literally stick my fingers down into the truck since the gap between the glass panels was so big. How it wasn't shattered I have no idea. It was also pouring rain this entire time... The fact my truck didn't fill with water is a random stroke of luck I guess.

Took it back to them, and asked for an explanation. Their response was, "Probably was a random act of vandalism while it was in our lot. We'll fix it for you though, at no cost." They had to keep my truck for another MONTH, and ended up having to replace the windshield (since it supposedly needed to be pulled to get full access to the roof for re-paint), and one of the headlights and grill that was damaged during the repair (wtf?). All said and done, it was about $10,000 in damage.

Royal pain in the ass. And I think it goes without saying, I'll never be going back to those guys.

Blue taped the cowl area and noise is gone! It looks like my new dash is coming out 😕

3-22 build date just for reference.

I have had wind noise coming from the lower passenger windshield area at highway speeds. Took it to the dealership this morning and took the service adviser for a ride. At first I couldn't get it to duplicate it which pissed me off because it usually seems to do it. Then I hit the air recirculate button and I'll be damned if that isn't the cause of my wind noise. Turn the recirculate off it goes away. Doesn't matter if A/C is on or not, just the recirculate makes it sound like a window is down a bit. Even the service advisor was surprised and is reaching out to RAM to see if it's "normal". Maybe not what some of you guys are experiencing but this drove me nuts and I'm thankful to have found this out, hope it helps someone on here.

I had wind noise coming from drivers side. Pulled off the HUD trim panel and there was a place in the upper left corner that looks like it should have had a screw (put my finger down it and could feel a hole). Stuffed it with some foam and it took care of the noise.

Previously had it at the dealer for a couple days and their master tech (wish I could put some serious sarcasm on that) said it was my fender being misaligned. What a joke.

This sounds like the same location they are pulling the dash for. Any details on pulling the HUD trim panel? I assume you just pulled up on it gently?

I used a plastic trim tool, started in the left side toward the dash since there was already a tiny gap there. Just slid it around to back side (toward driver) there the three clips holding it in place are. If your problem is the same as mine I definitely wouldn't want them to start taking the entire dash apart.

Mine is doing the same thing. What was your build date?

Mine will start doing it randomly at highway speeds. The noise is only when its on fresh air, which makes sense. My problem is that it will open up from recirculate to fresh air without me hitting the controls at all. I can move it back to recirculate and stop the noise with the controls.

So you're saying yours makes more noise on fresh air? Mine is perfectly quiet on fresh air

Correct. Mine is quiet on recirculate.

Which side of KC are you on? I'm down here in Joplin on the Missouri side, so things happen a little backwards down here! :)

Your toilets must flush the opposite way of mine too! Lol. I'm in Shawnee but I know Joplin fairly well. Interesting yours is opposite. I don't know what to think is "normal" anymore on new vehicles. Just glad I can turn the wind noise off, love this Truck!

Update: I popped off the trim hud trim panel with a trim tool, very easy to do. Then found the hole and filled with a bunch of butyl tape. Noise is gone! So glad I didn’t have to waste my time taking to a dealer!

Boom! Now the question is, what should actually be in that hole?

As a fellow Virginian and hopefully getting my truck in the near future, mind sharing which dealership I should avoid? I'm in the Richmond area.

I bet the technician hit it on the lift rack… I hate taking any of my vehicles to the dealership most the time they come back with some B.S and I I have to have them fix it..🤬🤬

So I hate to burst your bubble but I pulled off my trim and it’s a large bolt that belongs there… probably securing that side of the dash. I am chasing a wind noise as well and thought that was a good place to check. I’d see about getting a replacement under warranty and have the other attachment points checked. Scary to wonder what else they missed during the build.

Ahh crap, I had a feeling it needed a bolt there! I see the thread hole did not align with the bracket below. I’m assuming the lazy ass worker on the assembly line saw the dash not aligning so decided just to leave it out? Uggghhh frustrating!
