Does anyone have a picture of the Mopar power steps retracted and extend from a few angles and the Amp steps with the same angles. I installed the AMPs on my wifes Rubicon and love them but it doesnt use the OBDII port. I think they are very similar so trying to see if there are any differences when stowed and deployed including the width of the steps.

I think I have read every thread on this forum about the steps and I am in no better position to know which I prefer than when I started. People make statements that directly conflict other people from thread to thread. For example, in one thread someone stated the Amp steps flex while the Mopars are rock solid and someone else says, the mopar steps are rock solid and the amps flex....

Funny you posted this. We had the AMPS installed yesterday and love them compared to our Jeep Wrangler. They appear to be "smoother" operating if that makes any sense. We are wrapping up the level install now. Once we pull it out I will take pictures for you.

I prefer the Ram steps. I like that they are a warranty item (Dealer installed) and they are deployable through uconnect.

And for me, they are prefect as steps... Not too high, not to low... Hope that helps 🇺🇲

Mopar all the way! My steps are deployed before my door is even open all the way! Solid ASF!

. . . and the ability to operate with the UConnect for door-ding protection in parking lots seals the deal, for me, anyway.

Do the Mopar steps have the lights like the amp? That is a big help at night especially with little kids

They don't, but you could add them pretty easily. Get a set of under-body rock lights, or similar (or even buy the AMP universal LED light kit - though it's a lot pricier), and wire them into the door module's approach light output (connector C1, pin 3, inside the door). This is the circuit that activates the "puddle lights" on the mirrors - activates when you open the door.

Unfortunately, there's nowhere else to access this particular circuit, so you'd have to run a wire from the kick panel, through the flexible conduit into the door, and remove the door panel to access the wiring.

Here are the Amp step smart series. I can operate them from my phone no problem. Really sturdy and the new grip is much better than previous versions. I haven’t noticed any flex.

Those are sweet, especially being able to operate by phone. My dealer said they will put on the Mopar steps for $2150 or my local shop will do the AMP steps for $1990 - think I might just do the AMP after I get the truck now

These are my first set of power steps. So I can’t speak to the quality of the Mopar steps. Based on all the comments and reviews, they’re both pretty close it seems and prices are fairly even with install. Mopar steps were on back order when I was making my final decision and the Amp smart series had recently come out. The Mopar steps can deploy from the app so you’re at the mercy of the app working correctly, which I’ve heard isn’t always that great. Amp deploy via Bluetooth, which is much more reliable but limited to range. The lights are mentioned above obviously but for some is not that important. I don’t think you can go wrong with either, depending on where you live. Lots of snow and ice, I’d go Amp Extreme for durability but lose the phone deploying ability. They might come out with a new Extreme Smart series though eventually. I do recommend mud-flaps regardless of the brand you go with. Even with the mud-flaps there is stuff thrown up on the back fenders so you know without them those fenders are being pelted pretty good.

Just keep in mind that dealer installed =factory warranty usually. Plus integration with uconnect. I hate having to have my phone with me to control things. I have a few Bluetooth controlled light devices and it's annoying.

Bam wholesale is where I buy most of my stuff.
Check with your local parts department though, sometimes they will surprise you.

Where can I get the mopar power steps online?

I just ordered from my local dealership 1400.00 ( MSRP - mopar coupon ) and they were there the next day. But they wanted 700+to install! I said F$%k that! called another dealership nearby, and they installed for 3 hrs shop labor rate. (under 300 bucks )

I wish there were a shop around here that was less than 100 an hour! Those damned wires through the firewall grommet kicked my ass. A little KY went a long way!

Yeah, I ordered my truck with no steps what-so-ever, knowing I was putting power steps on it from the get-go.

The dealer I bought the steps at wanted more than 700 dollars to install! So I told the service guy I needed to speak with the service manager at how the hell they come up with over 700 dollars!?!

. . . I told the manager the steps called for 2 - 3 hours install time, and since I had nothing to take off, it would be closer to two rather than three! The manager then said, " My technicians are taking over four hours on these new TRXs."

I told him I wasn't paying extra for his technician's ineptitude, and promptly went elsewhere.
