He recommended the South Africa deterrent.

I read through most of your posts, sorry your truck got jacked......but RAM is not to blame for the security deficiencies. We (as the owners) are required to know and understand WHAT we purchased, a MB, BMW, Audi, etc. can be jacked the same way. You stated you already knew the deficiencies and was making a decision on the correct system for you. The whole "$100K truck should have come with X" thing, just doesn't fly. Parking your truck outside your house, night after night.....odds are it will get jacked. Here in CO.....valets and parking lot attendants are PAID by the theft rings to tell them exactly what is parked and where it is parked. Especially at the airport!!!

If the "good" people of CA are going to "stay and fight", they better change the voting habits. Here in CO, Denver looks like Little Venezuela......complete with kids attempting to sell you Chicklets at the stop light......squeegee kids darting in and out among the cars and illegals selling flowers and oranges at the intersections. Its bad. If you object to the Squeegee Kids washing your windshield (aka tell them no), they will smack your windshield with the squeegee.

Denver PD says: If you retaliate in any way (ie spray water on or smack the Squeegee Kids) YOU will be charged with assault and go to jail.
Yes sir, I appreciate all that...and am sickened by what's happened to Colorado. My cousin moved from here to CS about 30 year ago and has watched the decline.

Ok, back to the comment you made about the theft system. CLARIFICATION: I knew that "cars" were being stolen, via Relay Theft. I had no idea how easy or vulnerable the TRX was to steal.

It's funny how critical people can be, especially on a guy who takes more time than anyone I know researching things. And, given my age, I feel I'm WAY ABOVE the pack when it comes to researching something of this nature. Without going into details, I've been in contact with a dozen of my friends who have supercars across the U.S. and not a SINGLE ONE of them knew anything about what I was talking about. Furthermore, they laughed at the concept of all this "pre-running research" that all of you guys insist upon. Sure, hindsight is 20-20, but I just think we all need to zoom out a bit and realize who the crooks are and, fact is, as the saying goes "if they want something bad enough...they'll get it!"

As for "accountability" against the automakers...well...I disagree. They had darned well get with the program because guess what the "tail" of the dog is...and it's about to start wagging pretty hard. Yeah, the insurance companies!!

My point on the alarm system is that MY 2017 Raptor had a security system that was WAY ahead of this one in the TRX! Guess what? The Hellcat has a better system! And, also guess what? Lexus is also starting to put FOB disabling into their system. So, yes, I think a $100k vehicle should come with a better alarm than what can be bought from Best Buy.

All toyota/lexus models in probably the last 10 years with pts has the ability to disable the fob. Almost all makes/models are stolen the same way, relay/clone only makes up a small percentage

UPDATE:

OK...my truck is RUNNING again!

1. The jerk-wads pulled the Fuel Pump module to make sure no one else would steal it. wow.

2. They yanked the GPS module, which were the wires that were disconnected on the right floorboard threshold.

3. The guys at the shop think that the "AIRBAG" decorative caps in the headliner were pulled off as they searched for my hidden AirTag. They said it's a common place for people to hide them. I still am considering removing the speaker on them, since they now will start chirping after 72 hours of tracking...so I've read.

4. Windows are in stock, so it should be in soon.

5. Jon will perform his magic with IGLA and CompuStar later.

6. Anyone want to buy a barely used and gently stolen TRX? ;)

Ya know...Josh...wouldn't we be wise to ask the $100k question at this point?

How difficult would it be, AT THE MINIMUM, for RAM Dealers to offer the best immobilizer to be installed prior to delivery? I mean, they've offered everything else, including left-hand blinker fluid, and scented air for your tires.

But the BIGGER elephant in the room is...sorry...but why in the HELL doesn't the automotive standards require an immobilizer system to be installed at the factory? Oh...I'm sure there's money attached to this story somewhere...but still.

Thanks for your continued expertise.

They have profit margins and shareholders to answer to. The other reason is they make more money by doing the minimum. There are several posts on just this forum “my trx was stolen, how long to build another one”, now stellantis just sold 2, some have bought 3. They also make money on the backend. Stripped vehicles sold for swaps ect need parts, stolen recovered vehicles need parts and so on.
Look up the Phoebus Cartel. This will give you some insight to big business. Short preface, in 1924 the major light bulb companies came together to make “the lightbulb mafia” because lightbulbs were lasting too long and eventually there would be no repeat sales and thus no profit. They all agreed on a 1000 hour bulb and engineered them to fail. Cadillac did the same thing, fail 5,000 miles after warranty. This is the world we live in and will continue to get worse unfortunately.

I feel you are right..all about money. Speaking of which, I have a question that’s been bugging me and perhaps you may know the answer.

I’m wondering if these bozos get more money for cleaning up their mess behind them. Reason being, my truck is ridiculously clean considering they shattered that back window. Yes, it was held together by the window tin, but I can’t find any large Shards of glass anywhere. It’s as if they removed it and took it with them. The same holds true for the threshold cover it as if they put the threshold back in place like they wanted to make it look good for boss so they can get more money.

It’s sad how the depth of money corruption just gets deeper and deeper.

They don’t make more, it more for appearance. You see broken glass then you get suspicious and call the authorities. Thats why in some localities they drill the glass and use a pick to pull the lock up or go through the back window (america is the obese country so most won’t fit). Your tint also held all the pieces which are all small, its tempered.

Lmao, i travel out to Boulder frequently, this is pretty accurate. Boulder is also a shithole

I remember back in the 90s we’d put razor blades on your head unit. We need to go back to that shit.

OK. So…just got back from my meeting at the shop and Jon’s consultation. They all think it could have been worse, but for me…it’s bad enough.

First, the reason the airbag plugs were out was because they yanked the headliner down to look for the AirTag. Turns out that’s a REAL common place others have hidden them. So, the headliner is buckled and will be replaced.

They pulled the fuel module, which was easy to replace and get the truck running. So that’s good.

Now for the not-so-good. The monkeys broke the FAKRA connectors when they yanked the cables off of the CVMP module to kill the GPS. The diagnostic scan said all the other wiring was intact. The module is an easy replacement, but now..the problem is that the wiring may have to be replaced if those plastic FAKRA locking hubs can’t be replaced.

I’m really hoping it’s a matter of buying those pieces, and then just snapping them over the mini-sna connectors. Otherwise, the whole harness will have to be replaced…and, even though they will try NOT to remove the dash…I’m preparing my stomach for the worst.

Here are the connectors. Would love it if someone has experience with these, or can point me in the direction.

Oh, and Jon is everything everyone says…and more…and he hasn’t even started to work yet!

You can replace fakra connectors. It’s like an old school bnc cable, it’s just stripped and crimped on. You can buy a repair kit on amazon. Search fakra connector repair kit, There’s 100 different kinds of varying quality.

I’ve crimped these ends on myself to do camera work.

If the module ends are the ones that are F’ed they should come with the module.

ON IT…thank you. I think..if it’s a simple mini BNC cable…then a cut and crimp is the best solution!

Yea Fakra has been around a long time, it’s similar to a coax/bnc cable. You’ll be able to fix them.
Bless you…I’ll be able to eat better knowing that my whole truck won’t be torn apart to replace a harness.

Now…I just need to direct the wiring guys to find the right ones. I’m comforted that they’ve done OEM spec restorations on Lambos…so they outta be able to handle this easily.

Just relieved to know it’s not some “non-splice” fiber cable of some sort!!
