TRX Stolen

That drive home from Iowa was my most nerve racking experience. That is why I drove the Northern route, from Iowa to Colorado to Utah to California. Due to all the problems I saw, on this forum, in Texas. It definitely helped getting the IGLA +CompuStar installed in Colorado. Bummer that your truck was stolen. Happy to know you had it recovered.
When I got it back I felt the same way. Flew back to Fort Worth to pick it up 2 weeks later. Drove directly home once the keys were re-programmed. No hotels. I slept in it overnight at a truck stop lol

I have no idea but my rear mats were completely bent while still being in the truck somehow. Lol
Did they fold them when rummaging thru the storage boxes for more to steal?

UPDATE TRUCK WAS RECOVERED! Everything is in good condition rear glass was smashed but I drove it and parked in a safe area. Will be working with insurance to fix the truck.

Also to the people who think its cool to shit on people for not installing anti theft devices, I hope you don’t have to go through what I did. Blame the victims but not the actual criminals.

Will be installing an IGLA asap.
Congrats brother!

Update: Got the truck back from the shop today. Total cost of repairs was approximately $15k, plus an additional $1500 for a rental. I have made an appointment to have IGLA and Compustar installed later this month and will be parking it at my parents until then.

That was about the same as mine

Also side note when I brought the truck back I noticed the scent of burning oil. Is this normal for a truck that hasn’t really started in 6 weeks?

That is a good question. I would like to know the answer to that one. Nice to know that you have your truck back where it belongs, with you.

Yup. It’s still crazy to me that someone’s joyride cost me so much. Such is life I suppose.

Just an update. Drove it into work and no burning smell. No idea why I smelled it the day I got it back? 🤷🏾‍♂️
Perhaps the Tech/whoever did the recovery had a shirt impregnated/stained by oil/maybe wearing their tow truck gloves with years of various residual stains?

Amazing how acute (introductory odors) can resonate at times.

Case 1). The f'ing ____ at Scottsdale Airpark RAM who had my TRX for Lemon Law months had left a large coffee and styrofoam cup inside. It was amazing how much the stale odor remained for a couple of days. Equally as amazing slamming it on the Service Advisors desk, noting "I don't drink COFFEE" <- at the time and in front of other pathetic staff it kinda resonated like a cool movie line! LOL

Case 2). Rented a car in Memphis and oddly the desk 'agent' made a big deal about not smoking in it. Yet it stunk (initially) like my Grandmothers favorite chair next to her beloved ashtray. I asked the persistent 'agent' right away - who then discounted the smell ...due to the number of customers who frequent a local Casino and often return to their car with clothing that was impregnated with ambient/their own cigarette smoke. Bizarre - maybe she was trained to designate residual smoke from actual in-car smoke?

It just added to my rental adventures in Memphis - like last time their offerings were mundane like Malibus (not HEMI Challengers of years past). The reasoning? A rising trend of folks renting vehicles and simply never returning them (yes, even using their real ID/credit cards).. probably gambling that 'theft of services' type charges may be deemed a civil matter?

At least you didn't note any blood stains. We have a friend who actually has a Chemical Engineering degree and did crime scene clean-ups to residential couch stains. As much as I peruse CoPart his explanation about airborne HAZMAT from dried blood and attempts to remove/scrape it (let alone cases of decomposition) made me uncheck some boxes haha.
