Hey guys - Hope everyone had a nice XMAS! So something kind of funny happened and I wanted your opinions.

I had a friend see my truck for the 1st time. The very 1st thing he pointed out was this yellow light on. He then says "oh you're smart" You know what that light is for?!?!

Long story short this guy is obsessed with politics. Anyway he tells me some horror story of a "truck just like yours" getting caught in nyc at some protester nonsense and because he didn't have that light on he wasn't able to drive through protesters and get away from a dangerous situation. I guess that light means pedestrian emergency braking is off?? lol I had no idea. Anyway I looked it up and apparently he is right. Now while I don't feel like I'll be running over any protesters anytime soon I do hate all those emergency braking features. I feel they normally create more issues than they help.

Do you guys drive with your protester killing light on or off? and why lol

Pretty sure that is also forward collision light not just pedestrian warning or braking. Either way I can stop my truck just fine don't need any help yet!

Not getting into politics here!

So basically like my truck your yellow light is also always on? Because my understanding is if you do NOT see this yellow light that means the safety feature help is ON. Is this correct? Agreed fuck politics.

It will work similar to the rear auto brakes when backing up. Annoys the crap out of me when it senses a blade a grass and smashes the brakes!

I do agree that the safety features can become a hinderance in very specific scenarios in which for instance you are being car jacked and someone parks the vehicle in front of you (and there is also no way to back up), the truck would continue auto emergency braking not allowing you to get out.

Yes and it annoys me. I hate seeing it, as if something is wrong. The light indicates the feature is off. I really do not want my truck stopping if it senses. When I first got my truck and I was in reverse, with nothing close by, the truck braked hard, warning noises, freaked me out like I hit something. Than I learned what it was and how to shut it off. I am just not 100% trusting the sensors. Many are great. Beep at me maybe. Slamming the brake could interfere with me trying to avoid something. It could make the person behind me slam in to me. I still want control. I trust my instincts more.

I am not a political person. Everyone can spin everything to politics to fit their agenda... but in that similar thought, What if someone or some group is actually harrasing you, threatening you, etc. I dont want my truck to stop me from protecting myself.

I'm going with additional switches - replacing the eyeglass holder.

Toggle A, then B.

The light isn't on in my truck, and I have the warning only

I'll have 2 play with it tomorrow. So you're saying you can turn off the auto barking feature but still leave on the audible collision warning and that will turn off the yellow warning light in my original post, correct?

I have the auto brake off but warning still on and do not have the illuminated dash light.

Yes

Yes, as others have indicated, no yellow light. Forward collision detection is still active. Just no auto braking to contend with.
What I don’t know is if you’ll have the yellow light of you turn it completely off in Uconnect. I’m wondering if the light is only to show that you’ve hit the manual button to turn it off (or if it’s malfunctioning or the sensors are blocked).

Do you mean turn it off as in AlfaOBD?

And almost 5 years I have had to see that icon. I was going to play with the setting you mentioned above to see if it goes off.

The only way to get the light off for me was
Forward Collision Warning Only Warning
Pedestrian Emergency Braking must also have Warning+ Active Braking on
If either of these settings are off than the light comes on for me.

So question... what am I doing wrong or what am I missing. Because I dont see a way to put warning only on to get the yellow light to go off.

I only see off or on w warning and emergency braking. This is what im seeing in the menus.

Yea mine is the same. So basically if you dont want auto braking on you're going to have to see that yellow light.
