So long story short, my truck was almost stolen in downtown Chicago on 7/30/23. I came out of work to find the back drivers window broken and quickly found out that my key fob wasn't working. Someone decided to try to take a shortcut to have nice things instead of hard work like the rest of us. What I thought was good timing has turned into a nightmare.

When they broke into the truck they damaged the door trim, destroyed the door panel as they jumped through and left some nice tool marks on the door and bed of the truck. As I took a further look they ripped wires out of the passenger side door kick panel trying to disable the sat tracking. Then I assume they tried to reprogram a new fob because mine wasn't working at all. Called the police to file a report, got transferred to a non-emergency number, put on hold for 30 mins, and then got my police report over the phone. I guess attempted car theft in Chicago is not a worthwhile use of police time but I digress. Called insurance and had the truck hauled onto a flatbed and eventually to my dealer the next day. My 2nd key fob didn't work either so the dealer started working on getting it repaired.

Now here is why I wish it was actually stolen. I have been waiting on a part from RAM for almost 2 months now. Part number is 68451000AE and it is a surround camera processor module. Part was ordered on 8/7, first eta was 2 weeks, then early September, then September 20th, and now I am being told October 4th. How in the world is this part out of stock as it goes in every RAM truck since 2019 with a backup camera? My dealer has escalated it and I opened a case with @RamCares and still nothing. A quick 30 second internet search shows a couple dealers with the part in stock but not sure if that is true as my dealer tried other dealers that said they had the part to no avail. Seriously, if my truck was stolen I could have gotten it replaced a month ago at least.

So does anyone have the same problem? Waiting on this particular part? Hoping for some info as I am not getting any information from RAM on when my truck will be operational again. Still has to go to a bodyshop after to fix the damage to the door but can't get it there until this part comes in. Just doesn't seem right to be waiting on a repair for 2 months+.

I am getting more and more nervous about leaving my truck in the city every weekend. Which dealer is it at? In a previous life I was in the car biz and still have friends at several dealerships.

Glad it wasnt stolen, they must have not been pros. A couple things.

For the parts esclation, if you have a STAR case/Ticket#, contact RAM Corporate (866) 726-4636. Ram cares is just social media support, if you want actual help now, you need to do it yourself. Give them all relevant details.

For your truck. They deleted your key, part of their key program process is to remove your fobs. Generally. If your key doesnt work its likely they had removed it, and had a problem programming their key and ditched it for whatever reason. Time is their enemy.

Please get some security. Ravelco/IGLA and a compustar alarm + T13 remote kit, and the DASII window break and shock sensors, or Drone max (which has the DASII sensors). This way you get alerts, it will deter any breaks, as it seems many of these thieves now check first to see if theres an alarm with a couple taps. I dont need to tell you about Chicago, so you need to protect it and yourself from these pricks.

Sorry to hear about this. Hit up S&A Security in River Grove and get IGLA and Compustar. At least then you'll have a real alarm going crazy if anything happens again, and you'll get notifications on your phone that something is happening to your vehicle. IGLA will prevent your FOB code from being deleted/changed - it will also prevent loss of the vehicle if your keys/fob are stolen from you (i.e. pick-pocket), as they wont know your PIN code.

Took 2 months to repair my stolen truck. I had to threaten to move the truck to another dealer to get it done.

Yes, same problem for me except it is an antenna wiring harness. I have been waiting for two months now for the part to come in and every week it gets pushed back another week. Ram Cares calls me every Friday to tell me its delayed again. I also had to have a rear door panel replaced but that part came in and has been completed. The only thing I don't have is access to NAV, satellite radio, compass, and HUD display for road/speed limit but my Apple Carplay works in its place. After six weeks of my truck just sitting in the dealership parking lot, I called and said I am coming to pick it up and you can just call me when the part comes in.

While my truck was in the dealer lot it was dented in 2 places. And when they were taking seats in and out to install the wiring harness they scratched the hell out of the body paint in the interior.

Wow sorry you are dealing with this brother...

Definitely sorry to hear that another one of these trucks was targeted. I hope that your part gets expedited.

Sorry to hear that. best of luck ... This s**t is out of hand. Public hanging for Horse/Vehicle Thieves, that would make them think twice...

The absolute worst part of owning a TRX is when something happens....and you are reliant on the Dealer.

Call Ram Cares yourself (from experiences(s) and see if they can expedite the part (there is an internal team that can do this under certain scenarios). Ask your dealer for the RC case # for reference (and confirmation).

I have learned during TRX ownership NOT to trust dealers, only apathy and indifference is consistent. Unfortunately need to be the squeaky wheel. My truck hit AZ Lemon Law status with collective downtime (parked at the dealer <- not including awaiting the next avail. service appt.). Semi-retired, and habitually/professionally used to extreme 'notes'...it got ugly locally (Dealer) but Ram Cares was customer centric/transparent from my interactions.

In my case (radiator) it was interesting to learn it coming from the Tier 1 source to Stellantis (ie: during the time they were back-ordered). Getting it made a priority by Ram Cares for a vehicle out of service VS. something to backfill a Parts Dept. shelf. Incompetence did shine at Stellantis however, when the first radiator (coming from neighboring California on the next day delivery route) had a 6cyl radiator and box had been repurposed (how no one saw this at the distribution center is a WTF). Second attempt (Ram Cares) came from an Illinois distribution center and shipped GROUND... took five (5) days to arrive (so much for 'expedited').

****I had done my own cursory side research, randomly calling dealership Parts #'s and discovering that 'In Stock' didn't mean F-all... obviously a ploy to encourage someone placing an order (as some have side hustle online MOPAR parts websites). Comically I had questioned a couple dealers showing 'in stock' to confirmed the part. Consistently their 'inventory showing was inaccurate'.

We should have a section in this forum just for TRX Thefts or attempts.
This is insane.
Sorry for your truck man.

I was thinking the same. I was going to head it up with a poll, so we can determine the highest risk places to park.

Billings? Really?

I was thinking the highest risk spots: airport garage/ remote lot, driveway/street, parking structure, hotel, etc. Then we could have our resident number crunchers determine which shit hole is the worst-of-the-worst, per capita. 🤣

Seems like half the theft attempts on here are in DFW area or Houston. Don’t forget those two shitholes.

The worst dealership experience ever is when they can’t even rotate and balance tires and wheels.

Went to the dealer with an early AM appointment (a rarity these days). I just wanted a rotate and balance and to look it over before my warranty ran out. It took two hours to accomplish something so simple.

On the drive home, I hear this clicking noise coming from the front left. Get home and pull the wheel off and find one lead weight fall to the ground and notice a nice groove in the the wheel from all the other weights that are no longer there. Turns out they put the weights in line with brake caliper.

How can you f up a balance and rotate?
