insurance will value it after 14 days after the claim. i’m not so sure if i’m going to order a new one unless I know for a fact I can install proper anti theft to combat this situation. I don’t want to go through this again but I fucking miss the truck
Good call.
Hope you get a new truck soon.
Nobody is mad at you but at the situation, these thieves are ballsy and will steal anything any time of day.
Good news is you will get a new truck.
Get either IGLA or Ravelco along with shock sensors. I would also get the Tazer which will soon add another layer of security.

The thieves might come back to try to steal it again, that happened to my buddy in FL.

That really sucks....... Until we can vote out these scumbags that support criminals more than the honest hard working people, it will only get worse. FJB

If you put another TRX out there and wait for them, is that considered baiting? We put corn out for hogs all the time and wait with an AR15 and its legal... JS

Also @Creamsicle and anyone else:

All Tazer has right now is a "live" feature (meaning, it has to be plugged in for it to work) is a pin sequence before you can drive away. Considering thieves (to my understanding) plug right in to the security bypass cables to delete/make a FOB, they will simply just unplug the tazer rendering the security pin 100% useless.... Lol

As others have pointed out, the metal "tazer shield" is only a delay before the thieves access the wiring they need to get around the tazer. Not saying it's worthless, just understand what it will and wont do - I still ordered a shield, and will install it whenever it comes in.

Also that's not a knock on the tazer either - I have one, and think it's absolutely worth owning for it's other features, at the least.

Guys, add a shock sensor to the factory alarm. I used this: http://addshocksensor.com/
Inexpensive and SUPER easy install if you have any competency whatsoever with wiring.

I can not stress how easy it is to install. Took me all of like 20 minutes, and then messing around with the shock sensor's sensitivity, while driving my neighbors crazy setting my alarm off over and over getting it set the way I want it 😂
Any more force than a light/medium "knock" on ANY of the windows, at the factory alarm is going nuts.

IGLA is being installed tomorrow on my truck. After doing my HW, it makes the most sense to me. IGLA's features/track record have already been infinitely discussed on this forum, so I won't get into all that. IMO, it's worth the money.

I'm also going to re-locate/hide the transmission park override lever/cable too. From what I've been seeing, that's another tactic thieves have sometime been using - push/tow the vehicle "around the corner" or whatever, and then work on defeating the additional security is installed.

Remember: while these thieves are complete shitbags... most of them aren't stupid. They are doing this to make money. But because they aren't stupid (never underestimate your enemy), they know that the potential money they'll make by stealing your vehicle is completely worthless if they end up in prison/dead. They are expecting your TRX to be a soft target (because from the factory they are soft, and these thieves know that...).

When something unexpected to them occurs - like your alarm going nuts as soon as they hit your window.... they have a decision to make. If they choose to continue, and realize the have to get around the metal shield in their way... they have another decision to make. If they continue, and realize they can't delete your FOB (IGLA)... they have another decision to make. So on, etc...

Or: they already have your FOB/code - don't know your PIN and cant bypass it (IGLA)... Then they can't find the trans park override... etc..

Bottom line: what do you think they'll do? Continue burning precious minutes fumbling around with your vehicle, thus increasing their risk of prison/great bodily harm/death more and more..? Or, "cut their loss" and move on to the next vehicle?
Can you share what 'angle' your sensitivity is at for the addshocksensor? you can DM me if you want -- mine is at the default position they had set. I bumped it up to vertical/pointing up and that was already too sensitive haha

I think Stellantis should held accountable for these easy theft. Is there a way we can all create some type of awareness get them implement more security?

I don’t think it’s logical to blame an owner for having their locked truck stolen from their home. Could additional security measured have been taken? Yes, there is no end to what you COULD do. But that doesn’t make it the OPs fault. The blame lies with the scumbag thieves!
No but the actions taken sure made the thieves lives and job easier, it was a sitting duck unfortunately

Does IGLA give you a sticker or something so the thief knows not to bother breaking your window?

I doubt it but know they are very aware.
i have seen multiple news about Hellcats being a target for thieves for years now. The only thing that trumps it are Hyundai Pallisades and the Tellurides from Kia. It seems those are basically given away if thieves want to take them.

No, but honestly you could order one online.....that website ETSY has people making all kinds of custom stuff. I actually just bought my custom license plate wrap off there, which incidentally for my California friends, allows us to avoid the extra yearly charge for custom plates?

what exactly is igla
It’s an anti-theft system that has proven super effective. It attached to the CANBus ( internal communication network) of the vehicle. It’s tiny, undetectable, and undefeatable.

You can use your phone, a small tile-like tag on your keychain, or a customized PIN to deactivate the anti-theft. Without these, your truck is inoperable. You can hand your keys to your buddy, and the truck won’t work without your secure authentication. It’s awesome.

There’s even an anti-carjacking feature where if your drivers door opens for 3-seconds while the truck is running, your need to re-enter the PIN or just truck will stop when it next slows and be immovable.

I’m super happy with the system. There are many posts here with lots of discussion about the system. IGLA and Ravelco are the go-to solutions.

Damn, that's a great idea.. Found one for Oregon, problem is they look nothing like the normal plates.. I'll need to look into the legality, but these look minty 👌

Lol “minty”

And it’s pretty cheap too at only $25

I don’t know if they’re technically speaking legal in CA either, but we have those all black with yellow lettering ones you can get from our DMV, so I figure I’m just taking it a step further with changing the color of the lettering. 🤷‍♂️

Wrong on two out of three. The only device that's undetectable is the one that does NOTHING. I guarantee you I could connect a device to the CAN bus that could detect an IGLA device. How? Simple - the IGLA works by overriding commands on the CAN bus destined for other nodes on the network. A simple monitoring, or "sniffing", of the bus can reveal IGLA's operation.

And, anything that communicates can be compromised. I don't know any specifics on IGLA, but I will guarantee you that if it's listening to messages on the CAN bus, there would be a way to introduce the right type of message that would cause some type of buffer overflow, that would then cause IGLA to, for lack of a better term, "crash". IGLA isn't using an advanced microprocessor, with all kinds of protection, segmentation, and the like, as modern CPUs have. It's going to use a simpler, purpose-built micro controller that would be vulnerable to specifically-crafted attacks.

Is any of this simple? Hell no. Does anything like this even exist today? I doubt it, but only because it's not economically advantageous to develop it. But don't allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of absolute invincibility - because there is no such thing.

Now, with all of that said, I do believe that IGLA represents the best available theft deterrent for our vehicles, and I will most likely be getting one soon. But not for a second will I ever think it makes my truck immune from theft. MUCH, much harder to steal? Absolutely. But NOTHING is undefeatable.

For the TRX, it is not an alarm system, it is an anti-theft system. The installers wanted to be clear on that when they installed mine, that it did not set off any alarms or anything like that. It just makes the truck unable to drive without the pin, fob, or phone to unlock the system and other key fobs cant be made. They said that alarms and tilt/shock sensors can be added to enhance security and alert you if someone messes with your truck

Edited my inaccurate word to appease the semantics police. I’ll proofread more carefully next time. Thanks for the correction.

IGLA is the way to go. There’s no way to get the truck started unless you enter the PIN code. Even if you have the key with you. Unless they use a tow truck to take it away.
