I'll be trading for an RHO soon. I'm having a hard time dealing with the thought of my hellcat leaving but I'm doing it for tax purposes and having a fresh warranty. I'll get over it.
Should I sell mine outright or trade? Does NADA's average trade value use the msrp of the new truck or the number the dealership marks the truck down to before listing the value of the new truck for?

They are going to screw you, they need all the money they can get right now so most likely you will get lowballed. Think you will regret walking away from the v8 but you do you man. Glws!

If you sell it outright, you'll most likely get more for it than if you trade it, but you'll lose the tax advantages you'll get if you trade it. Do the math and then decide which way works better for you.

It’s funny some states do the tax advantage others don’t. Also some states have a very low initial tax then do personal property tax once or twice a year.
For instance North Carolina has a max of $250 sales tax, but then you just get taxed at the assessed value every year.
Other states like Michigan has flat 6% with no trade deduction.

I can understand trading the TRX… for a Raptor R perhaps.

ummm tax reasons. You don't need to sell in order for tax reason UNLESS you are talking sales tax. That seems silly to me. I bet you will lose more trading it in so you'll still not come out ahead trading in I bet. If paid off keep it and buy the RHO.

You do what is best for you, but seems like a waste to get rid of the TRX. I am also thinking about the RHO, BUT that is because I miss NOT being able to drive the TRX daily. I have to watch where I drive the TRX where as the RHO I won't care. I'll probably never sell the TRX and drive it but only where I feel comfortable/ parking.

You won’t have any tax purposes to worry about if you don’t purchase a new vehicle. As far as warranty goes you’ll probably spend more in your trade transaction than you would on potential repairs down the road.

But you do you. Average American “needs” to replace their vehicle far more often than they should.

This seems like a bad life choice. I've made a few dumb life choices. But trading my TRX for a RHO would be the worst life choice. Good luck but sounds like you need counseling 🤣🤣🤣
just launched my truck this morning after getting Chic Fil a. Despite the gas guzzling and all the theft I just cant sell it. I love it too much.

I traded my first TRX for a new Hellcat Challenger. It was a great car if you like to smoke tries. But it all fairness it was awesome on the highway. Missed the TRX almost immediately. Finally traded back for another TRX and could not be happier. Now my biggest hope is Stellantis will re-think thier stupid decison to retire the TRX when we have a much more favorable administration in Washington that is pro oil and gas and stops promoting EV's.

If I can't get a new TRX in a few years, I keep this one till the wheels start to fall off.

stellantis is a euro cuck company. they probably only care about EU politics

there are machinists who can make you an engine that is dimensionally the same as a hellcat but even stronger from a materials perspective, so you can run this engine until it dies then do a rebuild and make it even more powerful and durable. that is what i have planned. or just a crate engine.

They'll make it for the US if the demand is there and the politics allow it. If not, since I drive a lot, I suspect I'll either do something like you suggest or find me another low mileage L2 TRX in a few years. I have even considered buying a second new TRX now and just storing it until needed. I've got the money and the room.

I traded my first TRX for a C8. It was good until it wasnt. The transmission went out, It was in the shop for 3 months and my wife hated how uncomfortable it was.
Guess who has a TRX again. You always regret getting rid of a TRX no matter what it's for.

I agree, I’m driving the 22 forever, or as long as I can get parts. If they comeback I’ll buy another in a second. I have the redeye charger now as well and it is a tire burning machine. Just ordered 17” wheels and Mickey Thompson street ET R’s to TRY and not do burnouts at the drag strip. I like the TRX more.

I don't regret getting rid of mine. I liked the TRX but it was too much of a middle man to do anything that I wanted. It couldn't touch my AMGs for speed, couldn't touch my 392 for all around fun and real wheeling and couldn't haul much, which doesn't matter as much to me as it used to. It was a cool truck for what it is but I never loved it.

The Rubi 392, on the other had, I can't imagine getting rid of it. The TRX was 65% better for road trips but the majority of my road trips are heading to OHVs or other trails.

I switched to a Rebel for half the price ..Identical cab with the TRX ( base trim) with better seats. Cab size, electronics , dash is identical...I even installed TRX take offs steps/toneau cover on the Rebel and they are perfect fit. Just something to consider
Like you I have a 392 ( '24) but I wanted the bed and the comfort of the TRX for long trips..Rebel was the perfect choice plus the extended gas tank Rebel comes with ( 33 gallons as an option) I finally get 400+ mile autonomy running 83 octane
