Towing Capacity vs Trailer Weight

I think he asked how much you tow with your trx. My dump trailer is usually 11,000-13,000 on the scale when I dump it. Not including the trx. I go easy on the car. No more than 55mph. I didn’t check my mpg because it’s 7 miles drive. But probably around 6-7mpg. Never had issue. Never used distribution hitch of any sort. Just sits slightly low.

How much does the 2500 weigh? Looks like it’s 6500+ lbs plus 2000lb trailer, you’re over the 8000. Why not tow with the 2500 and put TRX on the trailer?

the it’s a laramie 2500 6.7. the reason i am not towing with it is because it’s not working right now.

You can google year/make/model/trim... to find the exact weight of the 2500 but regardless, you're going to be over the 8000 lbs. I'd say it's not a good idea but someone else on here may have a different opinion. You're going to be overloading suspension, hitch, braking,...

i’m asking because some wrote that they hauled a 11,000 to 13,000 lbs dump trailer with no problems.

The TRX won’t have a problem with pulling or stopping the load, plenty of engine, brake and frame strength for the task. The suspension being so soft is what limits the TRX to 8000lbs. For a short distance tow I wouldn’t worry about it. I towed 7000lbs cross country twice with the TRX and had no complaints.

it’s around 100 miles and just going 1 way. I’m a little concerned because it might be over the rating but i’m not sure.
