Ticking noise after replacing engine

Just had my engine replaced on warranty. For the first 24 hours the car was perfect, and drove it really lightly to break it in, rpm never even touched 3,000. Suddenly i stop at a traffic light and hear loud ticking, any ideas on what it could be ?

yup, it’s at the dealer right now, they said the oil level was perfect

I have a very similar sound coming out of mine...going to dealer tomorrow. I don't notice it under throttle but as soon as you take your foot off the gas you can hear it. Interested to hear what your issue is.

07 ram 1500 4x4 slt 6 inch lift, engine mods. Afe intake tube, 95mm throttle body, edge torque converter, sonnaxs valve body cups installed, complete Diablo CMR tune I wrote sitting on 35's.
Sounds like lifter. But it could be exhaust leak also. Does it increases clicking with acceleration?

Could be exhaust leak then

Lifters, bent valves increase and speed up with acceleration. Look for black soot around the ports.

Dealer got back to me after looking at my truck, cracked flex plate. Little annoyed as I don't drive this thing hard at all and hope it doesn't fail again when I'm out of warranty.

I feel your frustration. I just had my engine replaced too. I now have about 500 miles on the new engine and it sounds like shit and is running very rough. Of course there’s no default codes so it’s trying to get the dealer to do something based on the way it sounds. I absolutely love this truck but the last time it took over 1.5 years and 17k miles, along with numerous visits, to get them to finally discover a slow coolant leak and eventually engine scoring (again never had a default, truck just never sounded right).

This shit is frustrating the hell out of me and needed to vent, so dropped it here.

What is a Flex plate?
Its attached the rear of the crankshaft, between the engine and trans. When the engine and trans are mated, the torque converter bolts to the flex plate.
About 15" + - in diameter, with teeth around the perimeter that engage the starter.

They do fail. My C7 Z06 had a recall on the flex plate, the rivets became loose and started making a lot of noise at idle. Replaced under warranty, with a welded unit.

they still do not know whats wrong with mine but im getting rid of the truck anyways, mine has toooo many problems

apparently it had a bent pushroad from the factory. Anyways im trading the car in tomorrow, took a big loss, the TRX resale value in Dubai sucks.

So dealer called, they got the new flex plate in. Upon inspection, it appears a pin of some sort was installed incorrectly and elongated a hole. Now waiting for corporate approval for a new transmission. Between this and the drive line clunk, lemon law?

If you're going to try for that, do it asap so you can get an order in on the 2024s when they open next week.

I dunno, compared to what I paid for the '22, the '24 will probably be out of my budget. That and on top of it all the issues I've had on this truck is killing the ownership experience. Ford is dead to me as well. Unless the dealers start doing heavily discounted orders for the '24, I might have to wait for my truck to be fixed then just sell it. Just don't think I'll enjoy a Denali nearly as much.
