They got me

Have been staying off the forums, as I’ve been a bit sour since my truck got stolen lol.

Figured I’d update you guys. Truck was found about 5 days later. Tons of interior damage. Insurance wouldn’t total it. Truck has been sitting at my local dealership (same dealership I purchased it from) since with “ongoing repairs”. Bunch of BS.
5 months of making finance & insurance payments, ran out of rental coverage after 30 days, ended up buying another car, etc.

Crazy domino effect this has had. Once the truck is ready for pickup, I’ll have to deal with getting rid of it with the updated carfax. Another problem I’m not looking forward to 😂

Damn! What insurance do you have?

Damn, there is no good insurance anymore. 🤦🏻‍♂️
So, let me try to understand . You have by law to have insurance, the law won’t change against thieves because if you get the truck stolen the “insurance will pay it off”, but then insurance can say if they want to pay or not? Is there something wrong?

State Farm
If I were you, I would go at the dealer and ask to replace Everything and I wouldn’t accept the truck if everything doesn’t look brand new. Then, the dealer can pass the bill to your insurance.

Sounds about right unfortunately. I even got the department of insurance involved. They said legally, State Farm hasn’t done anything wrong.

So legally ask them to fix everything and you want all brand new. Make them pay the bill

I’ve done that. We’re about $33k in damages, just on the interior + cats.
Next request is a new tailgate. Thieves stole the TRX badge on the gate and keyed up the entire area in the process.

Make them fix all the damaged areas. Let rise the bill to 45-50K! The insurance companies make a lot of money with us. I pay $440 monthly, so… I hope I never see me in this position to fight with the insurance. Did you have any extra security system? (I know you don’t have IGLA)

I am so sorry to hear that. I would normally say "well, at least you got your truck back", but in this case it sounds like it would've been best if it was never found.

But now that they didn't total it, they have to repair it to hopefully pre-damage condition. Threaten them with bad faith if they don't.

My biggest concern is the paint and inside. Truck has been sitting outside for 5 months, filthy. About 2.5 months of that there was no window, so I’m sure the inside isn’t pretty. Wonder if I can get insurance to do something about that, and how.

No extra security, like an idiot.

Sorry man… and dealers won’t care about your car. When I was looking for TRX I went to a local dealer and they had a red one, and guess what I found? They left the rear driver window opened and by those days were raining like hell. It smelled like a wet dog and clearly a lot of water in the door components. I told them to close the window, I bet they did nothing.

It seems like insurance is paying to repair the vehicle, but not to total it. Probably because repairing it costs less than totaling it. Insurance companies exist to make money, or more specifically in this case, lose as little money as possible. 5 months is BS. Are the repairs hung up on insurance approvals, or parts availability? If it's the latter @scottie46 should contact RamCares; they can help to expedite parts.

That being said...he should keep prodding the insurance company. The longer the time drags on, the stronger his case becomes that the vehicle is beyond repair. As more time passes without a resolution, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify further repair attempts. This delay could support the argument that the issues are too complex and/or parts are unavailable, reinforcing the notion that the vehicle cannot be effectively fixed. In such a case, he may be in a better position to seek a replacement or compensation.

Yea, parts availability is part of it. Or they just say they didnt notice something, then an appraiser has to come back out, approve it, pay them, order the part, etc. which takes another 10-14 days. I've contacted and submitted a claim with Stellantis FCA, they are no help. I asked them to buy the truck back, they said its up to the dealer.

@RamCares would love your help.

No, sorry, I didn’t specify.
it’s for my GT350, TRX and Durango
They raised my insurance again. It was 441, now it is $463. These guys are amazing! It was supposed to go down every year if your driving records are fine, more experience, no claims, etc… but no, this is stupid.
Does anyone in Florida knows where can I call to quote? I’m tired of Geico

Once one of my vehicles drop below 50k in book value, I drop everything but liability. I sometimes drop 50k at a casino on a bad night so I'm not going to worry about it.

Nice stable you got there! Can't help you on the ins. I use a agent and they find the best rates for you plus you have some real person to talk to if needed.
