Question? I just purchased a new tazer dt. What are some of the things you have discovered by adding one to your truck?

The most common uses for Tazer are the amber running lights being enabled at all times and the folding mirrors being activated when locking. Some people are enamoured with the security features but the device cannot replace the IGLA system - a requirement for these trucks.

I’ve only got mine to change the lights and make it fold the mirrors when shut down. I know it can do a few other things, but I haven’t messed with it.

As said above, it’s not a security device. Please do NOT purchase it for that purpose. Get an IGLA and protect your purchase!

I’ve noticed it delays my backup cam substantially and also glitches it sometimes. It has been better since I turned off the parking camera option, but still not ideal.

I discovered that it’s a pain in the ass and too complicated for my simple mind, and ended up throwing it out due to the frustration it caused.

Since the above two features are the number one and two things that everyone uses this damn thing for, it would make sense to simplify the instructions on how to just do the amber DRL’s and mirror fold, as opposed to the giant instruction manual that I found to be 99% useless.

Rant over.

Amber DRL, auto fold mirrors and killing the honk when you get out the truck with your keys are the only things I use.

As buggy as the Tazer is, I'm surprised it has such a following. Just reading the comments about it on this forum has scared me away from buying it. I just don't care if my mirrors fold when I lock my doors or my horn honks if I close my door with the truck running. Otherwise, AlfaOBD can handle most of the changes everyone wants, at a 3rd of the price with zero bugs.

How user friendly is AlfaOBD compared to the Tazer? (Which is a pain in the ass to use IMO)

Agreed. It's a pain in the ass if you aren't familiar. I'd rather go through a leaning curve, than use a product that's so damn buggy.

Is Alfa easy to use? In a perfect world, Bimmercode would work universally on every vehicle, because it’s so easy to use.

It is easy to use but it takes doing a couple of changes to get accustomed to the order in which you need to accomplish them. There's always someone available on this forum if you have any questions. There are also a bunch on videos on YouTube if you're a visual learner like me.

I have heard that JScan is a little more user friendly. It also works with Apple devices, in case you're not an Android/Windows user.

Question for Tazer DT folks.... I believe my RF Hub is down, truck won't recognize key fobs. Battery in truck is good, key fob batteries are good. I was using the PIN lock feature on the Tazer, with the disable throttle and apply ABS features enabled. Since I can't get past the start screen (because key fob isn't recognized, and pushing it physically into start button doesn't do anything) how can I get the vehicle towed? ABS is obviously locked, at least I think it is, because I can't get any movement out of the pedal. Even if I pull the neutral strap the brakes will still be applied. Any thoughts?

The tazer fries another rf hub…. This is actually very common and if you butter up Ol’ Joe Zizzadoro he might cover some of the cost of fixing it but… don’t hold your breath. He has paid out who knows how much from it doing the same thing to countless people. The tazer when the ignition was on applied the brakes through abs and locked the pressure in it but is only good with ignition on. The rear brakes are also applied but if you have no working fob you would need one or get a 12v battery and disconnect the rear parking brake connector and apply positive and negative to release the stepper motor in it. You will then be able to move it. Then its off to the dealership to probably get a new backordered rf hub and key fobs reprogrammed in. Get real anti theft please…

Yeah, I proactively ordered and received a new RF Hub from Mopar. Will the dealership actually put it in and get me new keys, I'm sure that's going to be a joy to deal with. Thanks for the advice on the rear breaks, didn't think about using another battery... will give it a try. You can bet the Tazer's not going back in.

The rear brakes are a reverse polarity motor, positive on one terminal and negative on the other is close, swap them to open. The key fobs you currently have can be reused, new 23/24 might have an issue though. To program the new rf hub they have to request the needed pin ect and its only good for 30 minutes on new models. Older ones you can do with alfaobd lol

Thanks, good info!
Know any other tricks to get the park brake to release?
From the reading I've done you can activate the park brake without a key fob, but can't turn it off unless you can get the truck into Acc/Run. Huge pain in the ass. Just asked my two truck driver if he has wheel dolly's that'll fit 37" tires... just waiting for him to respond that he can't two my truck.

Yes, a 12-14v battery and a set of wires or a powerprobe
