Here is what happened to me on the way home from work yesterday:

I was first at a red light in the outside lane and switched the truck to sport mode because those are honestly the moments I bought the truck for. The light turned green and I punched it and on the next block a car turned out in front of me so I swerved into the inside lane. During the swerve the steering got crazy stiff. It honestly felt like the power steering pump went out. I'm no stranger to track cars and aggressive sporty steering and this was by far the heaviest steering I've ever felt in any vehicle with working power steering. As soon as I let off the accelerator the steering returned back to normal.

I have since replicated this experience and it happens every time under full throttle it feels like the power steering shuts off completely. I'm just wondering if there is somehow something "wrong" with my truck or if this is a feature of the TRX that isn't mentioned anywhere I can find. I'm fine with it if its an intentional feature, can anyone else with a broken in truck confirm the same thing?

Is your lane keep assist turned on. Its one of the buttons above the radio. If its on, and you change lanes without the turn signal being on, the truck will attempt to auto correct to keep you in your lane. It will feel like the truck is fighting your input. I generally keep my LKA turned off unless I'm doing highway driving.

I will double check and try it again if it was on and see if it feels different Thanks

Definitely sounds like lane assist is on...

Signal your intentions! sorry just piling on lol

Power steering assist in these trucks and base 1500 are all electric assist now.

I would try this again in a controlled environment with lane assist off and see if it happens again. If not, that might have been it.

I am sure we will not have to twist your arm to send it in a parking lot in the name of science!

A friend drove my SRT Charger with Lane Assist all the time - the first time (other than when I bought it) I drove it I turned the Lane Assist on, and then driving 20 miles on the freeway thought something was wrong either with the steering or the tires, as every time I'd change lanes I had to fight it to move over - as though someone was pushing back against my efforts. Only after I turned off Lane Assist did I realize that was what I was feeling - dummy me! Having vehicles that have this forces you to re-learn to use your turn signal before changing lanes - probably not a bad thing. My only complaint is that if there's no one around for miles having to use the turn signal seems almost wrong...
I'm a guy who's known to fall asleep at the wheel, so I SHOULD appreciate this feature though - I know from one I drive long distance that if I get drowsy and drift over the line, it lets me know by fighting me, and should I drift over the fog line, it will actually apply the brakes too. I probably would have ordered it on my TRX if it did that...
