So I still plan to get a trx but I am seriously missing my sportscars. I only have suv’s and a pickup. I know a bunch of you are into fast, low, swoopy cars.

i’m kinda screwed though because I now live in rural oregon, have no garage and a driveway thats a halfmile of gravel. Regardless I’m thinking about getting something once the weather turns.

There are no exotic dealers within a few hundred miles so it’s either american or german.

i’m thinking a 2016 GT3RS or possibly the new vette when they come out with the z06.

anyone have alternate ideas? This would be a canyon/mountain road machine.

C8 Scenic.webp

Get a C8. Value hold looks to be great for the next 6 months and they are really fun. Amazing performance for the price. the C8 Z06 will be impossible to get at MSRP at this point. The 3 biggest corvette dealers in the country already have 300+ people on their list each. Most small dealers I called also have lists locked up.

Build a garage by the entrance of your driveway and blacktop 100 yards.

I love the thought of the ZO6 vette, but Chevy sucked when it came to the 2 vettes I had. 16 grand sport that needed clutch fluid replacement every 300 miles or so.of gard driving, and my 16 ZO6 overheated like a SOB due to shitty design. They didn't give a SHIT about their product or customers.

Your McLaren looked sick, would be hard to recommend anything over that.

The mclaren was sick but it’s like lighting money on fire. I knew it going in and I can’t say it wasn’t worth it but still. I lost more in depreciation than a trx costs.

i’m thinking a 2016 GT3RS would barely depreciate and I could get it serviced locally. It would also be a riot.

I wish I could pave to a garage but the start of driveway is an easement over public land. Can’t build. I would have to either rent a storage location or a friends garage space.

I have a Nismo z. I don’t go anywhere with it anymore as I’m just not comfy with leaving it unattended. So I’m trading it for the TRX. I’ve had a z three times over the past 20 years and I’m more a truck person anyway just love the lines of the z. I can admire them from afar. However if I can find a red 300zx twin turbo in red 1996 I’ll but that and be happy.

Turbo S gets my vote too! If buying used the depreciation will be very low. Opposite when buying new. Hands down best DD out there for our NW weather. $15k in mods you have a 9-second comfortable cruiser that gets traction year round!

I kinda like uncomfortable sportscars. But yeah I was thinking about a turbo. I’d probably get a metzger engine manual which would be pretty sweet. I’m a sucker for 3 pedals

Gt3rs all day, nothing beats the sound and depending on the quality of the particular example and generation they're appreciating. A turbo as great of a car as it is cannot compete.

For track events yes. DD, no.

3-pedal turbo 997 is a nice call. And will very likely appreciate. Still kicking myself for not picking up a 993tt instead of a 996tt years ago. They literally doubled in price!

I love the 993 but they are basically too collectible to drive now being the last of the air cooled turbos. My friends dad had a silver on red one that was pretty awesome

This is my future Hydro Blue stablemate - ticks your boxes ( and mine) 9000 rpm screaming naturally aspirated 4.0L 6 speed manual and it crushes the corners

Gt3 touring? I haven’t been following the new porsche models lately

Yes, exactly. So far 20k miles and no issues or dealer trips outside of oil changes etc.
with new GT3 launch today the 991.2 gen may appreciate or fall - but this one is a keeper for me either way. Advantage is San Diego is 300 Day a year sports car weather. She gets a little squirrelly in the wet so Oregon may be more interesting

Heh. I was born and raised in SD. Still have a house there. I must’ve seen you at one of the car shows. I used to go to the rancho santa fe secret car club often.

and I love driving in the wet. I’m all for interesting. My favorite driving road was palomar mountain south grade in winter;

Took 9 months to get but was a hoot. The DCT was so nice. Kind of lost the love for all sports cars and concentrating on boats now and my daughter’s college. Lmao

Ived owned 2016 GT3 and 2019 Gt3rs. Had both in the garage at same time for 4-5 months and loved every minute with these cars. Priorities changed and sold them, will have another in the future. Btw my wife DD the GT3 and misses it.
