So I'm scheduled for my stereo install at the end of March and going with JL Audio Stealthbox (10w3 x2) and Focal set-up.

My installer hasn't worked on a TRX (who has) but we assumed Ram 1500 limited speaker locations. Can anyone who owns one or who has upgraded the speaker system list out speaker location and sizes. We're assuming 6.5" doors and 6x9s in the back, but not sure about the 6x9s. I'm not jazzed about the 6x9 speakers I chose so wondering if some better speaker location and sizes so I have more flexibility. I don't have the HK upgraded system.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it is 6x9s in all four doors and 3.5" in the dash for the standard Alpine setup. Not sure of the subwoofer size but guessing 8" or smaller.

You could always convert.

Sorry... no truck to play with over here.

How many speakers are you going with? Are you changing the amp too? Are you wrapping the doors with sound proofing ? If you don’t mind me asking what is the total price of the project? I don’t have my truck yet but I am thinking of doing something similar.

Ordered the following:

JL Audio VX600/6i Amplifier - $1,200
JL Audio VX1000/1 Amplifier - $1,100
JL Audio Stealth Box with 2 JL Audio 10w3 - $1,300
Radio Interface for Ram: $250
PAC Audio Speaker Harness: $50
Focal Flax 6.5" - $780 (front mid/tweets)
Focal 690 6x9s - $360 (back mid/tweets)
Vinyl Dampening Sheets - $150
Vibration Dampening Mats: $189
Digital Remote Control: $65
Monster Cabling: $250

About 40 hours for install

nice build, i am considering the same box.. I actually prefer the 6X9's in the doors as they provide better low-end sound versus the 6 1/2. I thought Crutchfield was showing 6 1/2 components for the rear as an optional upgrade.

Were you planning on replacing speakers in the dash center and the rear ceiling?

Just sticking with doors and stealth box for low end for now as the build is already pretty pricey (adding escort stealth radar as well).

Very much looking forward to it. My only gripes is I wish the stealbox supported a 10w6 or 10w7. And the Focal 6x9 seems kinda flimsy but it is recognized as the top dawg 6x9 so just gonna roll with it.

I have a Radenso RC M stealth also to go in!
Do you plan on disconnecting speakers not being replaced or continue driving them from the factory amp?

Probably keep them running from the factory amp but need to make the call on that and talk to my installer (Benchmark Motoring)

Install scheduled for end of March.

It looks as if the HK system on the current 1500 and TRX are the same, only speaker grills seem to have changed.

I'm actually surprised in the amount of bass in the stock system. I usually increase the bass, but not in this truck.

Focal are great. I have never used their Flax cones in cars but I have their 948 towers in my living room. The dual 8" flax drivers are clean, quick and go deeper than I would expect. I also have their Utopia Maestro towers in my theater. Those are unreal.

Agreed. All of my vehicles and motorcycles and cars have Focal and JL audio systems.

I love the Flax Focal speakers as well. I have their small ones as surround sounds in my main media room (paired with Sonus Faber towers/center and McIntosh amp/processor). I didn't think I'd be able to tell the difference with above average surrounds (the Focals) but they do add to the experience. Very impressed with Focal flax.

Agreed on JL as well. Had 10w6v2, 12w6, 10w3, the flat 10w3 series, 8w6, 10w1 (back when they made them) , stealthboxes, high output ported JL setups... Never been disappointed with the sound.

Thats good to know. I'm picking my TRX today. I took over someone else's original order and they left the upgraded sound system off so I have been concerned as thats the only option I really wanted lol.

I know, I know. Or while we are wishing, why not go with the 13W7AE or maybe a pair of them? 76 lbs for one sub? Yup. I had a pair in the trunk of my CLS63 and they were INSANE.

Now, back to truck boxes and small, narrow spaces.......

My stock Alpine system in the '17 RAM 2500 was very impressive when new. I think one or two of the cones are flapping.... Focal and JL have been in my builds, highly recommended. Back in the day, my '72 Vega was one of the first modded sound systems. I had 6 x 9 Jensen tri-axials in boxes. This was before MDF. Three-quarter inch plywood with Owens fiberglass was hot. I had a Pioneer Super Tuner III. All my buds were jealous of the casette deck. It was one of the first to play metal tape (TDK). My ears still produce a mild hiss from tweeter blare!

Just ordered from my local stereo shop and they will do the installation. Front, Audison voce 3 way component 6.5 inch, rear Audison voce 2 way component 6.5 inch. Sub box from mti, underneath, black leather with TRX logo on the front, dual Hertz 12 inch low profile subwoofers, sealed box for SQ, Audison 4 channel 130 watts a channel for front and audison 1000 watt for the subs. Audio control sound processor. Looking forward to crystal clear music thus summer

My old Ram 1500 I added this bad boy under the back seat.
I'm hoping it fits the same in the TRX or I might have to cry on the inside when I'm installing a new one.
