Removed the Hellwig sway bar

Installed mine about 3 weeks ago. No problems, no issues on the install and no concerns with quality. Was a breeze and it makes a ton of difference in the handling. Hard to be this upgrade for the price.

I've really wanted one of these but the reviews here have kept me away. There has GOT to be a quality manufacturer somewhere that wants to make some swaybar kits for this truck.
most of the mixed reviews came from folks forcing a Hellwig that wasn’t designed for a TRX on their TRX…

Hellwig didn’t release the TRX specific bars until 2023.

It's been a while since I installed one, but if there doesn't seem to be space for a nut, I would pick option number two.

Yep, but kinda hard to select option 2 (drill and tap) once option 1 (drill and nut) was selected.... I read the entire ~30 pages of the original thread which suggested that some '22 owners successfully drill/nut their mounting pads for the bar, did not work for mine...... No space for washers and lock washers on ~2 of the holes on mine as I try to recall now. (edit: that experience was with the original kit, not the new TRX-specific kit with saddle brackets)

^^^ I see now that there is a TRX-specific Hellwig kit Part Number: 7794 that uses saddle brackets and U bolts to attach to the axle tube (vs the old style I abandoned). With that new kit, are there any different spacers required for the links as with the original kit?

Thank you....

The current TRX specific kit I ordered came with everything I needed to install it.

At that point I would've used rivet nuts. Or gone up in fastener size so the holes could be tapped. Quick and easy...unless someone overreacted and tossed a perfectly good anti sway bar in the trash instead.

Can you mount/use the helwig swaybar if you have Timbergrove airbags already installed?

After 3 hours of dicking with something that should have been easy and trying to make that original kit work on my truck that it wasn't designed for I had no interest in then re-drilling out all the holes in the mounting pads, taping, and getting new hardware to mount. That bar and kit (after I cut it into 3 pieces) WAS then perfectly good for holding down the other bags of trash I had in my outside trash can. LOL ... I was happy to cut my loses....

EDIT: thinking back now, I think I threw it in the recycle bin vs trash can, so perhaps it was recycled and melted to become the bar for the new, correct kit.. LOL

I'll order the TRX-specific kit now with the saddle bracket and try again... 👍

How is the performance on those brakes?

The difference with the sway bar is night and day. I actually swapped out both the front and back with Hellwig setups and the car has never felt better to drive. Body roll is gone completely.

Which “tightness setting” (for lack of a better term) did you choose?

I mounted the TRX-specific bar today, no drama. I have it set on the middle holes. First drive tomorrow. How in the world does a US product have spelling errors in the directions? LOL

After you install it once and have it dialed in its really easy to install or remove if you ever get the itch to hit the trails.

In my humble opinion the stiffest setting is the best. I've used all 3. It makes the truck feel really planted.

User profile: Averaging 15-16k a set of tires (3rd set of OEM's this week), 🦖 shared duties as a daily 🚌 for the kids including occasional dirt/powerline (AZ) shortcuts...weekends (now it's cooling off) with bi-monthly off highway jaunts. Apparently my TRX use falls in the aggressive category?

I like the body roll and accompanying weight transfer during spirited antics (like dry pavement drifting some favorite highway (bowl) ramps, etc. and not a drive goes by without Sport or Baja setting and many WFO moments.

Formative years, results and preferences may vary? Perhaps I'm an anomaly and/or simply tend to maximize what I have (formative driving years operating $500 cars and trying to extract every ounce of performance/handling <- Memories - like my 1985 Golf diesel with 52hp and heavy Gti wheels that actually scrubbed speed when cornering😄 (attached pic in 95' in rural Wyoming finally hitting 80mph only to encounter a Wyoming HP B4C Camaro 🚓 on the only 'blind' corner)

?? Will a stiff Hellwig addition improve my otherwise (apparently) flaccid factory handling preference and daily quality of life? <- trying to channel a Viagra voiceover 😄

Stiff Hellwig will change the level of confidence you have when cornering in this truck. It keeps it very well planted. I feel as if I am driving a charger on an aftermarket suspension setup.

You should remove it when off-roading though.

Any differences when towing?

I haven't used the sway bar when towing yet, but the weight distribution hitch made a huge difference when towing my ~8000 lb loaded trailer with tractor a few weeks ago..... I probably had ~1500 lbs on the ball and the hitch removed most of the squat......
