Removed the Hellwig sway bar

You're missing the point... The wider track creates more stability, regardless of body roll or not. This is not rocket science. He's achieving a similar feeling through a turn by increasing track width. Theres a reason hardcore Jeeps run wider axles. Stability is one of them.
Increasing track width equally f/r won't change oversteer/understeer. It would, I guess, change the feeling of stability by changing the roll center and thus body roll.

Well, if people are really trying to install a rear sway bar to reduce understeer, they bought the wrong vehicle. Its still a truck. Pushing it that hard through corner where it understeers is just dumb, in my opinion. I was mistaken when I thought people were trying to accomplish the part in bold of your statement, which Im in no disagreeance with.

Guilty as charged then.
But at least the TRX isn't the most wrong vehicle I push hard through the curves.

I have one ready to put on when truck arrives. I think a lot of us do.

I'd appreciate
1. ) those that added them later, telling us what they noticed (improvement)
2.) OP telling us what was "better" when they took it off/what was worse with it on
FYI you will need to drill 4 holes on your rear axle housing to install it on your 22

Damn… I was pumped to get the sway bar… but after reading through this entire thread i might just pass..

My goal was simply to reduce body roll driving around town going 20-30 mph… that’s where it bothers me the most.

Regardless… Poor quality parts is BS. You are a company making aftermarket parts that are mostly purchased by major car enthusiasts. I would much rather pay $$$ for the best construction and high end components.

Might just wait for another company to drop something higher end.

Hellwig isn't the only manufacturer out there.

Either way, an anti sway bar does reduce body roll. There's no way around that.

Well, I went to install mine (edit: original style kit) last Summer on my '22 truck and fought it for ~3 hours. On 2 of the 4 mounting holes there wasn't enough room to get a washer and lock washer on with the nut, and on one of those, I had to grind some of the nut to get (only) it on. I finally ripped everything back off, cut the bar into 3 pieces with the death wheel and threw everything into my trash can, including the extra hardware and spacers I purchased for the install.

My TRX is 100% on-road and I wish I had a bar, if someone makes a quality bar that bolts on, I'll try again.....

Was in in '22 they no longer had threaded holes?

If so, drilling and tapping would eliminate the need for nuts.

I recall only 1 untapped hole was present on my '22 truck, I read here of (2) mounting options, drill and use nuts/washers/lock washers on the back side, or drill and tap. I chose the first option that did not work on my truck....

There’s other options out there to make a better setup but it takes some extra work. On my 2021 I initially ran the Hellwig kit. Swapped their adjustable end links for fixed ones from Core4x4 and was pretty happy with the setup. That is until the salt hit the roads. The bar and all of it’s chintzy hardware started rusting like crazy when everything else under the truck still looked new. To their credit they replaced it free of charge and actually sent the thicker bar as an upgrade. However my confidence isn’t great that it wont start rusting like the last one so it’s just set aside in the shed for now. They are a California company. Evidently they don’t really know how bad it gets up here with salt.

I’ve seen that Belltech and maybe a few others also offer sway bars for this platform too, but my current setup is a little different. OEM stock 5th gen bar and mounts, core4x4 links with johnny joints. I supplied my own stainless hardware and made some spacers that go between where it mounts to the axle, which improved the clearance. Both it (and the Hellwig) will still kiss the spring perches at full droop but for my usage it’s not really a concern. The Hellwig was stiffer and possibly a bit more effective but even the stock 5th gen is way better than nothing and it hasn’t started rotting away either.

It's been a while since I installed one, but if there doesn't seem to be space for a nut, I would pick option number two.

I got the hellwig and it turns this truck into a track truck, sharper turns and bodyroll ain't there much, handling and control of the truck is what jm improving and it's needed

Im running the hellwig w/ core 4x4 links in mine currently and it’s great, powder coated the bar first since I heard of issues with the original pebbled finish over time

Yeah, I might have the replacement they sent me re-coated if I get ambitious. Because one winter was all it took to wreck the first one. Everywhere the bar had bends or other stresses started pitting and rusting real bad. Their mounts too.

I've really wanted one of these but the reviews here have kept me away. There has GOT to be a quality manufacturer somewhere that wants to make some swaybar kits for this truck.

I’m telling you right now…. that MF is not re…

JK 😂

For what it’s worth I took mine off last night for the Arizona member’s outing. I could 100% tell the difference when driving there and back, so much so I am installing it back on as we speak.

There's at least one other manufacturer out there, or at least there was when I started looking around a couple of years ago.

And I'd think that anything for a late model 1500 would work since the only difference would be the length of the links.
