Remove Speed Limiter??

Anyone that's driving 118 MPH around other people on a public road is a moron.
So what am I when doing more than that when in the Challenger?

Okay, so it accelerates a lot better, but that means I can pass someone where I couldn't with the TRX, speed limiter or not.

Having thought more about this concept of fooling the almighty computer by changing the tire size, electronically or mechanically, I think it's not necessarily a feasible thing.

If the speedo, odometer, and such, ends up reading wrong is probably the least of what we should worry about. I really don't care what the speedo reads anyway, but the brakes, transmission, and God knows what, probably does.

There are so many things these days that rely on what the speed sensors say, and those may not work right at all if given false signals. Instead, intercepting the signal to only the speedo and odometer (if that's possible) with something similar to a Pedal Commander device might work.

But until someone figures out if it's possible to separate out those signals, and makes something to fool only the speedo with (which would be the easy part), it's probably easiest to send the computer out and just have the darn speed limiter removed.
I know when the Colorado zr2 came out (I think the 1500’s had the same issue) you couldn’t easily change the tire size with the typical ways out there.
Even the canned tunes and inline speedo calibrators were having problems.

It ended up being that the abs and speedo got their readings from the wheels speed sensors. Easy to trick that.

But there was another speed sensor in the trans and that controlled the speed limiter and the traction control (you’d think the wheel sensors would)

Anyways, the speedo would be perfect for a larger tire but your speed limiter would kick in at like 68 mph.

And every time you took an on ramp cloverleaf the traction control would freak out.

It took a while and Hptuner was the first to unlock the trans speed sensor and once that was adjusted to match everything, then everything was happy skippy.

The question isn't about how to drive my truck it's about removing a limiter. But thank you for being concerned about my safety

Whoever is telling me the truck will break or I'll pop a tire. Just pay attention to how easy it goes 110-120 truck feels solid and true at that speed on good ground.

Secondly, it's not like I'm going to try to go crazy high but 120 is a breeze on this truck and doesn't feel unsafe at all. Thanks to those of you looking out for being the angel on my shoulder I appreciate it.

My 22 was tuned with lower pulley and stock suspension. I did this only for a very short run but I will tell you the truck felt very stable and it was still pulling strong just FYI. Most likely won't ever do it again my 24 is still stock and it will stay stock but it was fun I have to admit. The truck is awesome no question about it.💪💪👍

As I mentioned in a related thread. I bought one of the ZAutomotive NoLimitZ to remove the speed limiter. I got it in the mail today, installed it in about 90mins and gave it a quick road test! (y)

You'd need to ask ZAuto to be sure but my guess is no. They are separate products with different features. Just send them an email, they have been very responsive to my questions.

Awesome, I will contact them..thank you..

Well I uncovered my first "bug" in the NolimitZ. I was making a long pass on the highway and the speed limiter "kicked in". WTF! 😡 When I got a chance, I went through the "activation process" again. It only takes a minute but activation needs to be done while stopped and the engine off. (So the instructions say) Anyway, it worked. Hope this isn't going to be a regular thing.

I'm told they are coming out with an update to "easily" tell if the unit is activated or not. That's what happens to us early adopters.

Ain’t just early adopters with ZAuto. It’s every customer.

Well I’ll join in on this thread, just installed my NoLimitz on Monday. It works great for me I brought it up to 133 with my 37x13.50’s. Decided to put my stock wheels and tires on and brought it up to 144. Plenty more in it I would guess, it was still pulling real hard when I had to let off and get on the brakes. Running out of room and catching traffic faster than I would’ve liked. If the vehicles were not up ahead I could have got closer to 160ish I would think as I think it had at least that much more to go. I’ll attach a couple pics of the top speed, the 133 was with the 37x13.50’s and the 144 was with the factory GoodYears.

Late to the party. Went to ZAutomotive site and see the NoLimitz DT and JL. What’s the difference? Which do I want? I looked for contact info all over their site but nothing that I saw.

DT is for Ram DT models (which is the 5th Gen 1500). The JL is for Jeeps (or 5th Gen Rams with the small 8.4" screens).

Thank you for that. So I assume, based on your explanation, I’d want the DT for my 2021? Sorry, I’m half asleep today

Yes, the TRX would use the NoLimitz DT (and if you wanted a Tazer from the same company, you'd want the Tazer DT).

From their website:

NoLimitz DT

NOTE: This unit is for RAM DT equipped with the 12 inch Uconnect radios. If you have a DT with the smaller radio, purchase the NoLimitz JL (use NoLimitz DT instructions).
