- No but thank God for those that have served!
For those that have seen my other posts, I live in Michigan and set out to line-x my ADD bumpers and now my Rambar. Having been in the Jeep world for years, that stuff just doesn’t hold up to Michigan winters and salt.
I set out first to modify my Rambar to allow my Retrax tonneau to sit flush on the bed rails and prevent leaks and dust intrusion which is huge on the trails in Michigan.
Understanding that the Rambar is only cosmetic and not in an way for safety, and that I have no intent of ever using it for tie down points, I cut the base plates and handles to get what I wanted. I cut off the rear set of “handles” and ground them smooth so my now Truxedo tonneau cover would not hit it rolled up. I disliked the lost space in the bed from the Retrax as well as the constant rattles on the trails. I also filled all the holes and smoothed them in the baseplates, along with cutting the baseplate back to allow clearance for most modern “inside mount” tonneaus. I repositioned a mounting hole at the rear of the baseplate as the new rear hold down point.
Its’s all coated and re-installed. Looks amazing and is well protected. The fit came out well and is very sturdy even with the modifications.
Ps…yes I also misted rust proofing thru the entire inside of the Rambar as well.
