Ram RHO Driving Reviews

Musings....

  • RHO title: Glad they didn't take the TRX 'Halo vehicle' namesake. Respectful but also 'may' indicate/hint at a TRX update?
  • If the drivetrain offered a 2wd default option... that would have appeal - miss those Raptor antics.
  • Wrong kind of orgasmic sound (and organic too): After two Raptors (2014/2017) - having endured the Gen2 exhaust 'tone' (like Fran Drescher during coilatal bliss :p )....RAM isn't worrying about Raptor conquest customers assimilating to an improved tune.
  • Alibaba will offer a RHO->TRX emblem poseur swap. Like the DOOD grilles on F150's or 5th Gen 4Runners and TRD Pro (grille/emblems).

Interesting - more balanced front/rear weight distribution for those of us that get airborne potentially a flatter flight. <- Our frequent weekly launch site is the secondary entrance and epic transition 'lip' into our local Albertsons supermarket lot - those watching from the neighboring patio of Einstein's Bagels 'appear' to enjoy it as much as our toddlers. The gentler full throttle soundtrack may prevent curbside viewers from spilling their daily soy lattes while reading about their favorite candidate in the Huffington Post..

I hope my TRX lasts a very long time. If my only option was an RHO to replace it, I would pass. Without a Hellcat, I wouldn't have bought my TRX in the first place. Not that I dislike the RHO, but it is missing the thing I love the most 'bout my TRX.

I think the Raptor sounds better but that being said, Ram left alot on the table for the aftermarket world. I just wish they didn't play off the TRX platform and maybe changed up the body a bit more too.

Features-wise, the hands free driving and the passenger dash screen are cool. I don't understand the bright red taillights without the black accents though.
agree they should have not played with the trx platform and should have changed the body a bit making it a different truck purposefully... if they would have made it into a single cab or extended, shorter wheelbase, it would have been a good offroad option..

Agreed, a single cab would've given them one heck of a competitive advantage and could be a good off-roader.

I'm going to use this thread for my PSA about getting your A$$ out to Vote. Whether you choose to do it by mail, early in person or go to the polls on election day like God and George Washington intended, it doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is to make sure you go vote... 🍻

...though if you're one of the people who really think it's ok that RAM canceled and replaced the beastly TRX with this 6cyl wanna-be Rapturd then maybe just stay home and sit this one out... ;)

This is probably the only advantage the RHO has over TRX (besides newer tech & massage seats). As more offroad reviews come in we will see. I wouldn't trade my TRX for it but the RHO has a market for those not interested in the V6 Raptor. And the aftermarket will improve the exhaust note for sure. But a BMW M3 soundtrack isn't what I would want after the TRX....

BMW M3? lol. That sounds waaay better than this RHO! Don’t insult the Beamer

Ha! Only with aftermarket exhaust! Clips of stock it sounds terrible. But at the end of the day it is a I6 and could be greatly improved by AWE me thinks

Let’s be clear for a second… the M3 didn’t always sound bad. F80 and G80 exhaust isn’t so good. E92 was glorious!

The only 6 that I like the sound of in recent memory is the Nissan Skyline GTR. If they were not so expensive, I could see myself using them as a daily driver.

I’m surprised at how well GTR prices have held up. I look at them on Autotrader every now and then and never see any deals. My buddy had one a few years ago and it was fun to drive. I agree, it would be a cool car to own, and I rarely see them on the streets anymore.

Off topic:

We talking R35s or Skylines? R35s prices are strong expensive because Nissan has kept increasing the price for selling basically the same car for 15 years. They were a steal in the early days but its absolutely insane to pay $120k+ for one now. Skylines are expensive now because the 25 year antique car rule opened the American market and everyone wants that sweet sweet Gran Turismo/Fast and Furious life

I recently watched a video from Throttle House comparing old and new GTRs, so the R35 was top of mind.

Love those guys. And I love the R35, just wish it could have kept up with the times. It was a paradigm shift in 09 though, really pushed the supercar market forward.

well the GT-R to me will always be the Skyline GT-R. I know, I know, the R34 Skyline never came to the USA. I checked locally...New GT-Rs $135+ 40K dealer markup everywhere within 400 miles of me. I think it's because of the low volume and cult following. they sell every one they import here.
