Pwr oil cooler

I think i might just install a nice spal puller fan on the stocker for that price, that and i already had to replace my stock unit because the drain bolt was torqued on, and bent the cooler changing the oil.

My fear with that was that the oem core sucks. So no fan or better ducting would help

if there is not temp data for comparison, maybe look at total core area, tubes per sq in ratio (probably in the low 3.x range, inlet & outlet ID, and end tank design. And compare that to stock.

I would be willing to cut my old one in half, for stock comparison.

Where are you located? I’m in the east Bay Area ca.
I should have my cooler soon… I hope. I think they still need to make it.

But I’m going to do a side by side comparison and getting the mu specs and pressure loss specs on plate bar vs tube fin for the sizes should be easy enough.

The two mu ratings if everything else is the same will be only different by flow ability if the air.

The gains will be if the pwr is thicker, and if it’s 50% thicker and all other sizes the same…. Then that should hopefully be enough to bring the temps down 15-20 degrees at those high ends.

Does anyone know if the engine oil system has a temp bypass valve like the transmission oil system?

And if so, what temperature does it open? I wonder; if it does have a bypass valve, if it sticks and that is why they overheat?

Hey everyone.

The oil cooler from pwr is available!!!

Please do me a little favor, let them know that Charles showed you.

I begged and begged and Tyler went out on a limb for me to get this made and made fast.

If this sells well, they will make the heat exchanger for our intercooler coolant.

is it difficult to install?

Thank you.

I don’t get any kick backs, but it helps me influence parts companies to make stuff for our trucks

Like the helldiver
I just checked the website again and it looks like they pulled it off. I wonder if this is so they can figure out price ?

Yep I noticed it's been pulled also. Was just thinking about upgrading that.

They are just waiting on me to do a fitment video. Im just waiting for it to arrive!
once they are 100% sure they got the fitments right, they will post it back up!

They were not 100% while developing it ? 😂

They are... I guess, but they want an install video and instructions and I offered. PLus if I dont like it or it needs more cooling, then it gets more cooling!!!!

Morrrreee cooliiiing plzzzzzz

Yea 100%

Tube fin tech has become a lot better in the last 15 years or so. So going to a bar plate doesnt automatically mean increased cooling anymore.

Im hoping a few things:

1) that the PWR is thicker and maybe has more frontal area than stock. This will just mean more surface area for heat transfer
2) that the bar plate has less pressure drop meaning that oil flow is better and it can transfer more oil and then cool more oil.
3) the end tank design better flows, and has increasing effect like #2

On a note that has nothing to do with the cooler itself... does anyone know if the TRX has a thermostat bypass for the oil cooler? I wonder with the huge oil temps on just regular driving, if the bypass is faulty.... or worse, if the company who makes the bypass has the thermo bypass made wrong where its open when cold and closes when hot.

But yea, apparently the cooler is shipping to me tomorrow, so I figure tue next week Ill get it. Ill install it and do a little testing. Sadly its winter, and raining, so that all keeps the temps down. But Im doing some measuring right now to see what temps the oil is getting too under current 60 degree weather

It’s cool here. And the pwr cooler is supposed to arrive Friday… so we shall see.

But I’m starting to log own oil cooler temps in the cool weather to compare. I did a little easy drive, 40-45 mph, not much boost or big throttle requests. 57 degree ambient temp.
Oil temps hovered around 219 engine temps between 197-204

I should have a little trip with more aggressive throttle demand this Saturday. So I’ll do that before I install the cooler on Sunday if it’s not raining.

UPS says they will deliver tomorrow… fingers crossed. They have already delayed delivery twice
