Anyone going to paint their calipers? I wish that was an option like on the hellcats.

Some "TRX" caliper covers might look cool. I've always been on the fence with those, though.

I didn't notice that we didn't get brembo's until I was looking at the wheels. I assume we didn't get the ones from the trackhawk because those will only fit 20" wheels

That's what I have read too. Brembo's wouldn't fit.

I got a few emails out to Brembo, Wilwood, and Baer to see if a kit is in the works.

There is only so much you can cram into an 18" wheel. My GLC63 only has 15.4" rotors up front and 6 piston calipers up there but its a 21inch wheel. I'm guessing the only way you get more stopping power with 18's is through pad/rotor choice or figuring out a way to go from 4-6 pistons up front right? Unless you get a bigger wheel?

I installed an Alcon mono 6 kit on my Evo. They are used in WRC, nascar, WEC etc...some of the best available. While spendy (4k just for the fronts) the only things to out brake me at the track were gutted civics. It even allowed me to hang with ZO6's in braking zone. 18 inch wheels minimum are required but having OP brakes are one of the best upgrades you can have imo. So I will be definitely looking into a multi piston, 2 piece rotor setup for the front. Just the increased margin of safety is worth it alone. Dirty pic of my Alcons after a track day for reference...

I posted the response from brembo in another thread but here it is. Still waiting for Baer and Wilwood to respond.

do they make a wrap that would be heat resistant enough to just wrap them or is that a strict no no?

Wow, that’s a really awesome reply. I love the Brembo brakes on our DSRT and it blows my mind folks buy high performance vehicles with Brembo brakes and immediately want to switch pads to a cheaper product and material because of brake dust. I never would have thought, prior to owning the DSRT, that folks would be ok with reducing braking power at the risk of safety #1 and performance #2.

I’ve been considering this option. I would repaint the caliper cover to match the body color and add TRX. I repainted a set of power stops on my 2010 RAM. Painting caliper covers would be significantly less effort than that project.

Those would be sweet with the trex logos people have been working on.

ive seen them melt on a SS who wished he has a ZL1 haha
They dont let heat dissipate and i could only imagine them holding in mud and grime when offroad.

and yea... they are mostly crap plastic clip ons but ive seen the metal ones..no better.
Get the calipers painted if you must.
