I'm sure if I look this up in the manual, I'll find it. But that's boring. Lol

From what I have figured out, I can activate the paddles by simply pressing them while in automatic. However, while in automatic, I can't see the status of the current gear, so, when I upshift or downshift via the paddles, the tranny shifts and then displays the selected gear.

I would have thought that one press of the paddle would have engaged "paddle mode", displayed the current gear, and not shift the tranny, as I don't necessarily want to chage gears when I only want to activate the paddle. How do you activate paddle mode, display the current gear and not have it shift upon pressing the paddle?

Alternatively, how do I get the gear status to display while in Automatic mode? At least if the current gear is displayed In automatic mode, then when I'm ready to use the paddles, I can decide which gear to shift to, as I'll know what gear I'm in.

The shifter has a sports mode, which allows you to shift using the gear selector That's what I've been using to prep for paddle mode. I shift into sport mode, the tranny goes into manual and the current gear is displayed, then I choose to shift via paddle or shifter.

It's a nuisance to have to go into manual mode in order to see what gear you're in.

For the break-in, I'm at a point where I can now use more than 50% throttle, but not in the first three gears. I have to shift into sport mode to confirm that I'm above 3rd gear, switch back from sport mode to automatic, then use more than 50% throttle.

Anyone know?

I can’t answer any of those questions sorry, But I have a question. Did I hear, Or read that you can pull in both paddle shifters at any given speed and the transmission will go to neutral? And stay there as long as you hold them both back.

Go to custom mode and set it up they way you want. I think I remember that you tap the trx button twice and it takes you to custom. Then again I’m not sure since I don’t have a truck to play with... wawa lol Cheers

Caliche is correct, if you adjust the HUD to custom 4 it will have the current gear displayed.

It also looks like if you hit the SHIFT+ it wont actually shift the transmission but rather just enable AutoStick mode. Hitting Shift - will downshift and enable AutoStick.

Um, I've never heard or read that before, but I'm also new to SRT Products.

Yes, going to custom mode allows you to activate or deactivate the paddles in any of the drive modes (auto, snow, mud, sport, etc.). It simply determines whether you'll be able to use the paddles or not.

I recall seeing the gear display Icon in the HUD settings, but I assumed that it would only display whe going into manual mode, just as it currently appears In the cluster. But, based on what you're saying, it should be visible regardless of mode (manual/auto).

As for one upshift on the paddle not resulting in a shift, that's possible. It could be that I downshifted when playing around with it earlier. Assuming that's the solution, does it say how to go back to auto once using the paddles? So far, the only way I've been able to do so, is by moving the shifter from D to S and back to D. It works, but also seems excessive.

Thank you for the info!

Long press on the + will take you back to auto

I would be so pumped if they had a hold paddle shifters and drop to neutral option. The C8's have that and hands down my favorite thing about it. Newer lambos and I believe the audi R8 has that option as well. You can rev the exhaust anytime......I think I have only seen that be an option in a DCT cause it can shift into the gear it needs to be in a little quicker and seamlessly.

Not as convenient, but you could always put the gear shifter into N. Lol

This is pretty exciting. The TRX will be the first vehicle I've ever had with paddle shifters (besides the wife's Cayenne, which I don't drive). Everything else I have has a clutch and a stick (except the RAM 1500, which just has a knob lol) or a shift lever pedal. I saw a vlogger review and the guy said he didn't like the paddles on the TRX. I can't wait to diddle 'em

I see myself using the paddles when I'm in the mood to shift, but the mood probably won't last long, as it doesn't fill the void of a stick.

I'll likely use them more often to downshift while slowing down. I was using them earlier to downshift, and it did cause the exhaust to rumble nicely, as well as to slow the vehicle.

So did you try it? Paddle shifters....
Yes. Paddles work as TrippleB And Maxgroup indicated they would.
Upshift once to engage without actually shifting. Long press upshift until gear display disappears. (maybe one whole second for auto to resume)

I used the paddles to shift this evening. Letting the RPMs climb to 5k between Gears. (5k and under for this part of the break-in). I won't be surprised if I'm pulled over soon enough. It's just too easy to exceed the speed limit, unintentionally .

Sounds like your having a ball. Did you try and hold both paddles and see if went into neutral? Thanks and I am thoroughly envious. Cheers

No, I didn't try that. I forget who mentioned it yesterday, but it sounded like it was exclusive to a particular vehicle, so I didn't bother trying. I'll try tomorrow and let you know.
