Anyone planning on adding an onboard air compressor or a portable air compressor (ARB/VIAIR)?

Sub'd, really would like to have a wireless air setup like I had I on my TBSS. Especially if going to use bead-locks and with all the bikes I haul around.

Yes I currently have one mounted on my 2020 rebel right behind the front bumper but on my TRX I’m most likely going to do a spare tire delete

I have a ARB dual compressor that I will be mounting later this week. No one makes a Ram specific bracket that I can find, so I’m going o have to fab up something myself. Ideally I’d like it inside the cab under the drivers side rear seat, but we’ll see where it ends up.

I removed mine from my Tundra and will mount the ARB compressor in the engine bay I believe. It looks like there are a few places that it will fit in well. The Vair tank will be more difficult. In the Tundra I mounted it to the underside of the bed just behind the cab. Then I ran a line to the back of the bed just inside the tailgate and put a chuck there. It was a great setup. I hope I can replicate this placement.

I had an ARB under the hood of my JKU. I’m sure I’ll need to fab up a bracket for the TRX but it looks like there is plenty of room under the hood to make it work.

Update: Got the ARB dual compressor mounted over the weekend. A little work, but it came out great. There’s just enough room to fit it under the rear passenger seat with storage divider folded up - I didn’t want to sacrifice it’s ability to fold in & out. I used some aluminum bar to make 2 brackets for the initial design. Once I get wiring done, I’ll revisit the mount and go with a heavier one-piece plate similar to the BajaMod bracket for the Raptor.
Let me know if you have any interest in this mounting location and I can look into making a few more once I come out with the finished product. Expect it to be in the $100-$150 range.

Ive done another setup, and specifically wanted the air compressor behind the driver seat tbh. And had a custom plate done with a stand out bracket to fit the switch and air outlet nozzle, had to make a custom fitting for it.
And i can still use it while the seat is in down position.

Nice job! Cool to see someone else come up with another under-seat solution.

I'm definitely going for the ARB.

But problem is the local ARB dealer says they are months out so I'm on a waiting list. Anyone have good suggestions on where to buy under warranty?

I plan to put in engine bay as surprisingly the engine bay has a ton of room for goodies and such. Shouldn't be hard to fabricate a bracket for engine bay implementation.

I know SDHQ is big arb dealer. Frankly, I got mine from Amazon Warehouse as an open-box and it's been perfect going on 3 years.

I saw a guy on one one of the Facebook groups (I think) do a real nice install on the passenger side of his engine bay. Tons of room there.

Just wanted to show everyone another mounting option. There is a lot of space over the passenger wheel well.

I just sent an email to rago fabrication. They seem to have made an arb mount for a 3.0 rebel.
So doing a trx should be easy.

I love my dual arb with the tank in the “pelican” style box. Runs air tools and a plasma but more is it fills tires faster since it’s building the tank while you’re fumbling… and then after you get done filling the tires you can cool yourself and clean your air filters and alternator.

Hard to do that with out a tank.

I like in cab mounting. I had a dual Viair dual tank setup in my 2500 RamBox. Only issue was during cold weather.

Why In cab vs outside? You have to have your doors open which means dust/rain/snow/heat/cold….
And noise….

And for the smaller/mid size vair and all smitty and all the rebranded alibaba conpressors, they will overheat and smoke and burn.

Not to mention the wire harnesses even on the arb compressors are small and get really really hot to the point the rubber gets soft. (Possibly fire for running long power lines to the comp in the cab.)

I’m trying to figure out what the upside to in cab mounting. Other than you don’t have to open your hood or clean out an air fitting if you have bumper or slider mounted fittings.

(Legit question. Not trying to be a jerk)

The Viair setup I had (now my daughter's truck) didn't like Temps below 20F. Other than cold temp performance it worked great. I would still plan on having holding tanks and air access on exterior. Before I sold the rig to my daughter who lives in a warmer area I was planning on moving the compressors in cab. Lots more room being a Megacab.
